Wouldn't mind Laporte, he's cut out the stupid tackles this season. Would prefer Van Dijk though tbh.

Probably. Though considering 'ideal', umcompromized requirement for Pep's defs, Bonucci and Laporte aren't even playing in one position as Laporte is a leftie. Having Stones/Bonucci on one side with Laporte/Kolarov on another would be amazing.

IMO the Van Dijk trail is cold if Chelsea are in on him. Think the only reason his name is being raised at this point is some are taking @tolmie's hairdoo 's "big dick" clue to be him.

He'd be a fantastic get, don't get me wrong, but I haven't seen anything to suggest City are interested (even the original link was due to The Sun, who link us with just about every player in the hopes they'll get one right)

True and it's fact we were close to signing both last summer, so who knows?

I do think our needs are greater at full back, GK, DM and striker though, so only one CB in a window of potentially 8 or more signings wouldn't be surprising.

I think the only player we've lost out to Chelsea on since the takeover has been Hazard while we've taken a few they've been after - Stones, Sterling, Dinho, Gundogan etc. Wouldn't be concerned about going head to head with Chelsea for a player in the slightest.

I agree, though it did come out he'd prefer London over Manchester if given the choice. My point was more that he doesn't really seem to be linked with any team other than Chelsea and no reputable source has ever suggested we are in on him, yet.

My only concern with bringing in Laporte to partner Stones would be a lack of experience in defence.

Add in Ederson who is 23 and 2 very likely young fullbacks...it could work but I would expect inconsistencies.

buy 3 out of the 4 and a few top quality such as kessie fabinho van djrk hernandez and were laughing
 
My only concern about the myriad names being put forward is just how many of them would come in and hit the ground running, especially those coming from abroad. Many players seem to need anything from six months to a whole season to find their feet in England and adjust to the speed and demands of the game. Even Guardiola would admit to this year being a steep learning curve for himself, so there is surely an inherent danger in signing 6-8 such players. Perhaps they'd all succeed in time, but if the past is indicative, we'd have quite a few teething problems.

No international tournament this summer so a full pre season unless we sign someone Chilean or Portuguese, that should make it a lot easier for the new signings to adjust. Anyone we sign from the Bundesliga or La Liga should be fine after a few games, both are high tempo leagues (look at G Jesus for an example - Brazilian Serie A is high tempo and physical and he got off to a flyer). Keeper would be the big one but it looks like we're signing Moraes and from what I've seen he's a tough ****, he should relish the physical side of the Prem.

I'd like to think so, too, but I just have my doubts. Jesus and Aguero are the two players who, in my opinion, seemed to come in and adapt with almost no difficulty whatsoever. From the Bundesliga, Dzeko, Gundogan, and Sane all took varying lengths of time to settle, though youth is a legitimate explanation for the last example. Perhaps you are right with La Liga, since Navas and Negredo settled more quickly.
