Then there is Yan Couto who if the MUEn Is to be believed he is going into the first team squad

Also the possibility of Zac Steffan being number 2 goalkeeper

If Ake were to play as LB it wouldn't be in the same way as Mendy. He isn't as good in attacking. He would be more of a defensive LB kind of like what Walker does on the right. Then you could have Cancelo be the attacking FB on the other side. What you will need is to somehow still provide width if Ake is LB. Perhaps have Torres as the left winger and Phil as the CM and have them do something similar to what Kev and Mahrez does where the winger inverts or the CM does an underlap towards the byline to put in a cross.
