Sunderland post match thread

I have to say that given the stop-start inconsistent season we've had, that maybe third or even fourth place is about right. Not that the title is lost yet, but given a mixture of various excuses and reasons, - not least the injuries to Aguero, Kompany, Nastasic and Jovetic, have meant that this team has never quite got settled or 'run-in'. Other challengers have had better luck with injuries.

That said, i think we all know the time has come to freshen things up a little, too many on the gravy train have become accustomed to the salary and having achieved the main objective - CL qualification and progression, which although is success, is not progression enough.

The summer is almost here, and this pre-season, i expect the club to to break up a good part of this squad, with most of the English contingent, either gone, or consigned to loans, and a few more hungrier, younger talents arriving.

I am an older blue, so for me, this season is still a success, but ultimately, i want to see a high quality, dynamic, and ambitious set of players; some on board have maybe lost that spark of ambition, and require a change of scenery, i won't name them, i think we know who they are.
Speaking of injuries, bad luck or bad management?

I know I post a lot of shit. However, this is not a knee jerk reaction. I'm very calm right now. We have bought very badly. We have the highest wage bill in world sport.

I wanted Mancini gone. However, it is now conclusive that Pellegrini is no tactician. All he does is play the same style of football every week. No plan B. No plan to stop the opposition. Just sheer arrogance that we can be mini-Barcelona, let me tell you we are a shell of Barcelona. Why? Because Iniesta and Xavi actually give a shit about their club. He stands there like a plank of wood regardless of the result. Never changes the formation, just the personnel.

We turn up week in week out like we are fucking drunk. Our players look shocked that a game of football is happening. No pressing. No aggression. No passion.

Hart is NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS SOME THINK. I've never seen a keeper get beat at his near post so many times.

It's just funny. Seriously. Money can't buy passion because that is why teams like Wigan and Sunderland embarrass us time and time again. Because they want it more. After 4 years and 2 managers we still can't beat Sunderland and Stoke away. We seem to never learn our lesson.

I'm actually embarrassed to be a city fan tonight. The balance of the team is not right. We have way to many stars and not enough 'glue' players. Cahill, Terry, Azpic etc. Chelsea have a bedrock of solid performers. Aside from Fernandinho and Zaba all of our players have a howler in them. Even Liverpool have Henderson etc. Hard workers. We have a load of lazy fuckers robbing us blind.

Soriano promised that we would have a director of football approach and that the first team coach would be cycled every 2 seasons or so. Fuck managerial stability. This isn't 1980 any more. Sack him and hope Madrid sack Ancelotti at the end of the season.

Your embarrassed to be a city fan ??? Seriously. What because we might not win the league, not apexactly something to be embarrassed about, imagine being a fan of all the teams below us or of a team that never wins anything. I wonder how you would have coped when we were shit

The REALLY annoying thing is that this was ENTIRELY avoidable. We have no-one to blame but ourselves.

First, if we had played with at least some form of intensity - like we did over the last 20 minutes - we would have fared much better. But it wad too little too late and by then we were desperate and open to being hit on the break.

Second, if we had made any substitutions that made any sense, we would still have won. Milner had the worst game I have ever seen him play. Absolutely every single thing he did went wrong. Why on earth didn't we replace him? And why, needing a goal, did we bring on Jovetic - unproven at best - for Aguero??? Surely Jovetic for Nasri or Milner? And if Aguero had to come off, then Dzeko on for Aguero?

I am not normally critical of Pellegrini, but losing the league this year has been ENTIRELY down to complacency and underestimating our opponents. Whether it be Cardiff away, Sunderland away, Wigan in the FA Cup, or Sunderland tonight. Every single time we have played like we thought a win was guaranteed, only to get fucked in the end.

I hope Pellegrini lives to improve us next season. Any more results like tonight and he may not get the chance.

I feel sorry for sunderland they deserved all 3 points

I feel sorry for our supporters who deserve better

As for our players and management they know what they deserve......
I don't feel sorry for them

Keeps getting brought up by a couple people, then conveniently passed over in (rightfully) slating players and manager: by today's account, what makes you believe that our supporters deserve better?

Some Fans fucking off again at 2-1 with ten minutes to go. No point slagging players off when you can't be arsed staying til the end.

Go on then happy clappers defend that.

I believe we are in transition

I believe we've been turned into nice guy losers.

I believe gentlemen, the answer is you have to take an 'holistic' perspective

;o)

- all joking aside, I'm as disappointed as anyone over the recent league results at Arsenal & Liverpool and this evening's non-performance at home.. and I'll not get into the F A Cup or our European exploits, but that's football for you... that's the game.

what a complete pile of wank that was, embarrassment but im sure the players all go home to their nice houses and dont give a fuck, where was the passion? they dont deserve the title at all.......im baffled by pellegrini's comments in his post match press conference, surely thats the dumb cunts job to get the loss out their minds and move on? what a shambles

Nasri been poor for awhile now since his superb form early on in middle of the season. I use to defend him from both from city fans and rabid arsenal fans but I can't anymore. He is close to useless on the field in big games

Hmmm, not right that really, was instrumental in our first goal, scored and missed a sitter. Hes good
