Player ratings:

Pantilimon - 5
Nothing to do but concede. Flung his arm up while the shot went past his waist.

Richards - 5
Not terrible but blunt

Demichellis - 5
Didnt have much to do defensively but at least tried to bring the ball up the pitch on the deck

Lescott - 5
Again, not much to do but missed a proper sitter with his head in the last min

Kolarov - 6
An attacking threat; set kun up for a sitter and nearly scored, but shot too often way over

Garcia - 3
Doesn't bring anything to the team defensively or going forward. Just there to foul other players.

Yaya - 4
A real off day for yaya. Passing range was limited and didnt drive forward at all

Milner - 6
Pretty blunt at right mid but was only one looking to drive forward in the second half

Nasri - 5
Again, no incisive play. The lack of movement was shocking and he really needs silva to pass and move with.

Kun Aguero - 5
Had a few moments of good forward play but not able to impose himself on the game. Missed a sitter with his head

Negredo - 5
Blunt. Blunt. Blunt.

Subs:

Navas: 6
The only attacking outlet in the second half. But decent balls in the box and but should have scored but got a bit predictable towards the 90.

Milner might try hard but he's easily contained and his passing's primitive.

He's a wet-dream for lower league teams; if he's matched against anyone whose style is similarly industrious but pyhsically stonger he comes up a second best.

Yeah, so why cross it?

EXACTLY! A good wing know when to cross.

To a point yes but teammates should be getting into the box in numbers when he gets on the ball.

This. Negredo should have stayed on I'd have took a defender off and gone 3 up top.

Yep didn't make any sense that sub.

It was pretty dire. Another medicore away performance lacking in creativity for the most part and gifting the opposition another soft goal. Having said that Aguero missed two open goals today (the player of the month jinx strikes again) and Navas should have buried that chance. Silva is our best player by a country mile and you could see that today. The effort was there from the players but there was no one to see or make the killer pass. Seems like Sunderland can't help but win against us just like Everton away under Moyes. Where was Richards when they scored out of interest ?

Our away performances have generally been better and more positive this season, obviously apart from the defensive/goalkeeping blunders costing us games.

But todays game had all the hallmarks of a Mancini away performance = slow tempo & lazy lack of effort, highlighted from a no show from yaya.

Theres some on here having a go at lescott, but Demichelis runs like 60 year old playing 5-A-side and should of done better for their goal.

Poor team selection.Richards and Garcia should not have started.Navas a winger that cannot cross.
Hate Sunderland, unbelievable how lucky they are against us.

Couldn't agree more. Navas CAN NOT cross. Running fast and crossing before the line isn't a cross. No curve, closer to keeper to handle and not enough power to divert in. I was excited about Navas when we bought him but I really do not like him. His crosses are weak, can't tackle, can't seem to pair with other team members and he loses the ball easily- not to mention he's rubbish at putting the ball back the net.

Navas can't cross... what was he supposed to cross to? they had 9 men in the box. should he have cut back in and dribbled at them? or should he have lay the ball off to a teammate for them to fail. nothing was working and in games like these, sometimes just hitting it in there and hoping someone on your side gets on of the end of it is the BEST option. some of them were rushed, sure, but I think if we had gotten a bit luckier on the end of one of those shit crosses, you'd be wondering why he wasn't in the whole game
