Super League Aftermath.

It's to stop FIFA only earning money every 4 years.

I like it, we'll have the usual people who complain about anything new coming out of the woodwork, but ultimately it stops european clubs having to go to a tournament in December and moves it to where pre-season friendlies would have been once every 4 years.
There’s no preseason international friendlies, they’re played after the season so a tournament that would go on until around first third of July.

If you’re talking about replacing the Club pre season friendlies with a competitive tournament that’s burn out, friendlies are there to get the team in shape for a long arduous season, Pep usually does about three. Would we have pre World Club friendlies so the players are ready for the tournament? They would have to start at the beginning of June. Come the real football IE the Premiership the players will be fucking knackered, absolute lunacy.

It will probably be quite fun.

Drop a preseason tour of China once every 4 years and instead play competitive games against some of the biggest clubs from around the world. Boca Juniors, Independiente, River Plate, Sao Paolo, Palmeiras, some of the Mexican clubs, Egyptian and Saudi ones.

The club world cup is a massive deal in South America, beating the CL winners is a real milestone of a great South American side.

If you only cared about the world cup, we'd only watch football every 4 years.

If only the very best standard football was interesting, there'd only be 20 clubs in the country and not 200.

Yep. People forget that sport doesn't have to be at the elite level to be exciting. Just two evenly matched teams testing each other. Much of the WC hasn't been at the elite level, but has been enjoyable nonetheless

And now I will contradict myself, because I can. Having the top club teams from all over the world playing each other will be fascinating. All the top players from the WC will be there, but in teams that have played together for years and have been properly coached with different tactics. Will be a spectacle.

Count me in.

Yes, obviously I'm talking about the CLUB world cup replacing CLUB preseason friendly tournaments. I really didn't think that needed specifying.

Pep normally does 4 or 5 inc the Shield. This comp is minimum 3, maximum 5 or 6.

Worst case scenario you play 1/2 extra friendlies in preseason and in return you don't have to fly out to the middle east in December and then play a few 4 game weeks in January to make up for lost time. I think every coach in the world would take that trade.

If they could reduce the number of meaningless international matches to spare the players it could be a good idea. The problem at present is that both FIFA and UEFA are trying more and more ways to increase their revenues. They don't care about the clubs or the domestic leagues. They are just want more cash. Something has got to give. The concept of a proper World Club Cup is reasonable but there has to be a limit to the number of games played.

The shameless money grabbing hypocrisy of FIFA holds no bounds. An expectation the most commercially viable (not best) clubs in the world cram in another 6/8 games into their season to accommodate an event almost certainly to be held (mid-season) in despot shitholes with the largest brown envelope under the banner of FIFA’s global expansion of the game. All that expensive Quatari stadia might still have some future use outside of flogging etc.

The Premier League have already stated their opposition to this (in 2021), City and Pep get away for gentle preparation and a relaxing start. Some players will have been playing in the Euros until the first week in July, this competition would have to start third week in July, it’s fucking bonkers. Oh and KDB and Pep have already said the players are not getting the rest they need, you need to listen to them, not the prick Infantino.

Just to add, Infantino has just said the 2025 Club Championship will go ahead with 32 of the World’s best clubs, that’s acting as a Dictator and how do you pick the best 32 clubs? Also, it’s being quoted the tournament will go ahead in the USA to try and make it the biggest sport there. Tell the **** to fuck off.

This competition is in 2025. 2029. 2033.

The Euros are in 2024. 2028. 2032.

how do you pick the best 32 clubs?

It really does seem like you're just opposing this for the sake of it if you haven't found out how they're picking the sides, which is in pretty much every article on it, and you don't even know which year it's happening.
