Super League - Positives only!

The whole of football doesn't have "Destroy Man City" in Latin under their badges, mate. All of these clubs will vote in their own interests just like we will. This league will be the "cosy cartel" that eveyone has been accusing UEFA of being and we will be in it. I'm not saying that's a good thing, but it's certainly better than the alternative.
This lot were the UEFA cosy cartel, this is just removing the last of the brakes.

I’m not trying to start a thread for the sake of it, it’s clear as day how we feel.

We all know the downside, so let’s keep them to the other threads.

But to play devils advocate, what are the actual positives here?
One I can think of is the broadcasters need a kick up the arse.

It’s 2021 and we still cannot watch 4K premier league football or champs league thanks to sky and bt. We’re being charged a fortune for a last gen experience.

Will this prompt referee reform?

interested to hear some reasoned thoughts. If that’s too much of an ask, please leave this post to those willing to have a reasoned discussion about this.

Narrator: There were no positives. No good would ever come from such a greedy, selfish, short-sighted move.

Bit like the PL has killed the FL, I suppose.
I do love the ‘not top 6’ PL clubs bitching and moaning that it’s not fair (meaning they might lose cash) but not actually giving a shit about Bury and the like going to the wall.
Championship clubs living as close to the edge as possible, all for the riches of the PL. I would have a lot more sympathy if Burnley, for example, wanted to split the tv cash into 92 equal amounts of cash (or more if you included the national league) to ensure the survival of all but, if they were asked to vote for that, they’d vote unanimously against.
I agree with you

This is the end of a long road that first started if memory serves when Utd ensured home match money was not split between the 2 competing sides

Its not really a positive or a negative but one thing that dawned on me last night, is the Super league would be able to make decisions about the game without ratifying it with FIFA/UEFA, so technically you could see rules diverge from what we know today (ie, a different implementation of technology like VAR, number of substitutions allowed, the use of timeouts (HEAVEN FORBID)). You could even see the potential for some of the fundamentals of the sport to change like Rugby Union/League...
Yep could be the end of FIFA as world governing body with regards to rule changes
The new cartel with it's new found financial muscle has open season to revamp everything from top to bottom.
An end of refs cabal doing VAR would be a positive for sure

I actually think this could make the Champions League more interesting.

It's been the same teams for years and years now at the sharp end of the competition and getting rid of the majority of the 'elite clubs' as they like to be called would create a big reset on who were the new big dogs in the Champions League.

The biggest draw to me for the current Champions League is seeing the clubs from various leagues and their different styles get pitted against each other and that would still be the case.

Seeing the likes of West Ham, Leicester, Monaco, Atalanta, Napoli, Dortmund, Porto etc battling for the Champions League is really intriguing and it would create a really open and unpredictable competition.
The problem I see with the Champions League is it shouldn't be called the Champions League if teams in it are a million miles from being champions, no offence to them of course. At this rate eventually the Europa League will have every other club in the Premier League in it.

I think the Champions League should be reduced down to an end season competition containing the top 2 teams in each league for the previous year and that's it. It should be a competition between champions and not for clubs whose only goal is to ensure they finish 4th every year (for the money).

The Super League idea is basically what the Champions League should be albeit the only criticism I have is you should get in on merit and not because you decided to pay to join it.

If you look at our attendances vs some of these clubs or when we were in the Europa League then you can see that there is just no appetite for watching city play the minows of Europe.

Where is that information? I thoight all we'd been told is who chair and vice-chair is? That doesn't matter as long as equal voting rights exist which I'm sure they will do. No way City would accept anything else.
Might be at cross purposes I meant we aren’t represented in terms of the 5 leaders who come from United Arsenal Liverpool Juvenile and RM

It's really annoyed the media mafia who have been kicked out of the sandbox they created.
