Did you actually work out the numbers before you posted this nonsense?

£200 * 47,000 = £9.4m
£900 * 47,000 = £42.m

£30m+ in extra match day revenue makes a huge impact in our ability to be compliant with the FFPR.

Our losses last year after a huge spending spree was £120m. We aren't going to need to spend so big on players in the coming 3 years, so you can assume that at some point that loss after normal operations will decline significantly. Perhaps to half that amount.

Add in a couple of friendly deals for the naming of the stadium and perhaps the leisure attraction. Let's say, £30m? All of a sudden that extra £30m in match day income you laugh off as insignificant covers the remaining loss.

Uniteds match day revenue is £100m. Now there is no way we can get to that with our current fan base, both from a numbers perspective and affluence. Long term who knows? But what it does show is that we are miles behind on this type of revenue, and I can't blame the top brass at the club for looking to maximise what we currently bring in. Their job is to make the club competitive whilst adhering to FFPR. We will be neither if we continue to only bring in £18m a year at the gate.

Great post and bang on the money IMO.

It's a shame that clowns like JMA don't seem remotely capable of grasping any of this, and while I accept that the Superbia membership is somewhat ill thought out what can't be dismissed is that with the onset of the FFPR the club are going to have to come up with all manner of ideas in order to comply with the regs. Contrary to what some fans think, I don't believe the club is hell-bent on pricing out/forcing out the core support base - more a case that they're trying to maximise revenue from all factions of our support without bankrupting them in the process.

If the club didn't care for the less well-off amongst our support then why have they again offered value seasoncards at £260 a pop? In fact, if the stadium is to be expanded my guess is that a greater number of these types of value seasoncards will become available while at the other end of the spectrum there will be more corporate facilities and hence more income from that side of things.

So good to read some sensible posts on this thread. Why do some fans have this persection complex re any initiatives taken by the Club? It is normal to try and improve both ends of the income range - and as stated above, this is what the club is doing by offering the £250 tickets and the Superbia membership.

We are not being forced to buy anything - it's just an offer and frankly, some people might like to 'be part of' the Superbia Membership and good luck to them. If we continue to think along the lines that we can only do things for the less well off fans, then we'll sink to the Wigan and Bolton mentality and I for one don't want that. If the more 'well off' fans (and I am not one of them) can help the clubs income then let them....it helps everyone in the long run.

We need to get to the stage where tickets are hard to get hold of - it means we've made it into being one of the top clubs in the World....

2 invites, 2 in the dustbin.

great to know 10 years of loyalty, going everywhere, will be rewarded by city giving 1st refusal on away tickets to those with money.

also if you get a ticket for every home game, the cost os different say from someone getting an invite in the family stand compared to colin bell level 2.

season tickets havnt been thought though enough at all, if city get to a cup final next year will juniors be entitled to go on their parent points, if so, little point in getting a kid a platinum ticket.

people with kids cannot get value cards, so the cheap offer isn't extended to those who need the most help.

single blokes snap up the value cards, the people with the most disposable income.

double loyalty points for watching the same thing, whats that all about.

as you can tell i think it is all bullshit.

So short sighted some people.....the club has got to sell more tickets....did you see how many empty seats there were at most of the cup games? Tell me why the Superbia package will stop you getting cup tickets??

I don't understand this argument.

Surely by definition if you have enough loyalty points to be offered this package, you're not exactly skint in the first place and hence can afford to pay for the package? Or do you devote your life solely to living hand-to-mouth to afford your city away days [and if this is the case, fair play to you but I personally think that's an odd decision to take].

In summary. No one with 7000+ loyalty points should be able to play the "city are pricing us out" card, because by definition you spend many thousands of pounds supporting city anyway.

Exactly - good post... some 'loyal' fans moaning for moaning's sake. What's your definition of loyal? Someone who goes to the games and is always criticising the club or someone who goes to the games and isn't constantly barracking every move the club makes to improve itself

so you think that all those loyalty points earnt the hard way should now count for nothing, for the first few years it was 10 loyalty points no matter where we played and what no matter what time, now it's have you got some money, welcome to the front of the queue.

the loyalty points were the carrot for the more lucrative fixtures, but now 2.5k buys you the equivalent of 200 of the early away games in terms of loyalty points, but in effect it doensnt matter anyway because the system guarentees you a ticket.

as for the cup game arguement it is quite simple, can the club clarify whether kids will still get tickets with their parents on higher points, thus making getting a kid a platinum season ticket pointless.

loyalty points are still going to count so i dont think there is an argument that if people have money then they jump to the front of the queue.... the people being offered are at the front of the queue already so i dont see the problem.... you dont just get 7000+ points from nowhere you would of had to go to quite alot of games to collect that amount of points. Although the club has certainly sold its soul IF they start selling these superbia season tickets to anybody regardly of points.

BUT.... HAVE A READ OF THIS.....

i bumped into a blue i know who does not go to many away games and hes got less points than me (i would guess around 3000 compared to my 5000) and he asked if i had been offered superbia so i told him i do not have enough points and he said "oh thats the same for me, im nowhere near BUT because i go with my uncle who has loads and loads of points and we sit together, i have been offered one aswell so we can still sit together"

I think that is unfair and wrong, i dont care if they sit together he only has about 3000 points!!!!! (I do know if he was talking shit to me or not but i believe him)

Now that is a no no - unless of course it is untrue.
Have not heard of anything like this from anywhere else.
I was offered it along with several other supporters and believed it was only offered to those in highest points category.
I thought it would be to around a thousand - i think the number in the bottom right hand corner of the offer letter was some form of indication of place in `pecking order`.
I was 588 - the highest from Blue Moon members i have seen posted was 971 ( which seems an odd total) so am guessing 1000 were offered.
Friends of mine in the 8000 points area were in the 40`s / 50`s numbers in the corner of offer letter.

i dont see why he would lie to me, he still isnt buying it because its too expensive for him but if its true the club surely shouldnt do that because its not fair n people with more points who arnt offered one

one very simple question i will ask, if city sell 700 superbia tickets, some to people on 5000 points, we then draw a small team in the cup, who gets the tickets, the superbia member with far fewer loyalty points, or the supporter who has already paid thousands and thousands more to earn his loyalty points.

i will answer for you as well, the superbia member because he is certain of his tickets, now you go ahead and explain how that is fair, and at what point loyalty is being rewarded as opposed to wealth.

and the notion that people who have lots of points are minted, is pure bullshit, its just that in my case, i work my tits off in the summer to afford football in th winter.

Agree totally !
I may try to ask a question if / when they do another `twitter` session like they did a few weeks ago regarding Seasoncard isues / renewal.

i keep telling you look at the platinum package...YOU WILL GO ON A WAITING LIST FOR SUPERBIA... in other words next season we will cast the net further i dont want to buy the black card but i fear if i dont all those points i ve accrued will count for nothing in say two years time as more people take up superbia, the rest of us will end up in a ballot so my hand may be forced

your right but fans arnt being offered if hey have 5000, unless of course if my friend is telling the truth. Fans who are being offered are fans that already have enough points to go every game anyway.

-- Mon Jun 06, 2011 6:01 pm --

sorry i fucked up the quote haha

I doubt very much that somebody with 3,000 points will have been offered a superbia card just because they sit with a relative, my brother is just short of 6,000 points and he wasn't offered one but me and my wife have the offer and all of our cards are registered at the same address.

Look, please don't 'answer for me'. All these posts are based on guesswork. As keeps being said...those who buy the Superbia tickets must already go to most games or it wouldn't be worth their while buying the ticket - they are not stupid enough to pay £2500 just for extra loyalty points when they must have a fair number already to be invited to buy one. Also, Eggbert - whilst I understand that you would be a bit put out if your mate has only got 3000 points but you are guessing. His friend might have 8500 points and when he said he has nowhere near that many, he could actually have almost 5000!! We just don't know. Let's see what the take up is before we dismiss what might be a tremendous initiative by the Club - improving the attendance at all cup games and thus the atmosphere!!!
