Supermarket fuel v branded fuel ?

You'll find butcher aren't much dearer than supermarkets, it s better quality too and probably local. Theres a reason any decent restaurant will always use a butcher for supplies.
I concur having worked in the butchering trade.

Butchers bacon v morrisons bacon? Erm yeah right stony. And dont get me started on morrisons chickens.

Costco just opened a petrol station for members only, at the Trafford Centre. £1.14 per litre at the moment.

It will be interesting to see if this starts a price war with ASDA!

I have worked a lot with the big supermarkets in the past during the planning and construction phases, and a key part was to be able to get a petrol filling station on the plans. The cheaper fuel pulls in customers.

A shadier aspect to this is, once all the local private filling stations to the supermarket have put the shutters up (they cannot keep up with the supermarket fuel prices), the supermarket bumps up its fuel prices accordingly. Capitalism at its best.

We have our own fuel pump at work and it seems fine enough on the 7.5tonne LDV wagons but the latest batch of Transits haven't faired well at all, all 5 of them have been back at the garage having the fuel filters and sensors replaced.

On a personal level my focus also had a similar problem over a year ago, we had to have filter and sensors replaced, it was utterly thick with gunk, the mechanic blamed supermarket fuels and ever since we have went to a branded garage and then 6 months ago went a step further into the premium fuel, we find the premium gives you more miles to the gallon and the car has run smooth as silk since swapping over from cheaper fuel.

Granted until the problems we never noticed the car running shit or a difference in the power or anything.

We have a diesel engine for clarity :)

As a professional driver, I would expect you to know that water coming from your exhaust pipe is normal and if the car is running fine otherwise, then it is nothing to worry about.

Condensation and what rots most exhausts.... short journeys a killer, some silencers have a water drain hole for that reason, I've drilled them before, small ones obviously :-)

Filled up a bike once with Diesel,,, not a good day BUT I realised before starting so a mate came out to me with some tools and we drained the tank...

I once got some bad fuel at a Tesco station , the pump was gurgling and slowing down during the filling process so I assume it was dregs... bike had to go to the dealer for injector clean and new fuel filter etc. Tesco paid after a little debate. I always keep receipts for a short while now

So how come Supermarkets are selling for up to 10palitre cheaper on 'standard' fuel? I think they must be selling a cheaper version than branded.
Because they make their money from the shop and not the fuel but the fuel encourages people to go to their shop.

It's called a loss leader.
