My first match as a season ticket holder aged 16 was that derby with the Geovanni goal. Later in the season, a first win at Old Scaffold in an age.

Met him at a City function, absolute gent, he wasn't supposed to stay long but he stayed until every single person who wanted an autograph got one...

I’ve heard a few similar stories about him.

I got his autobiography for Christmas about 10 years ago. It’s full of very kind anecdotes and very clear he has a lot of respect and affection for City fans.

Like Mancini for whatever reason he just got us straight away.

Was saddened when I read about this today. In the short time at City he did a good job for us.

Always remember the billboard near Piccadilly Station with a picture of Sven's eyes saying "old blue eyes is back". My mate, who was a red, went to a fund raising event for teanage cancer at the hotel Sven was staying in, the Raddison i think. He told me that Sven had bid 20 grand in for one of the auctions, won it and then put it back in to be auctioned again. Class act.

Definitely holds an affinity in football and Manchester. Proud to have stood up for him when his reign came to a fruition.
