Swansea - Post match thread

I was staggered that he didn't change it after 15 mins second half. The difference in momentum from half 1 was palpable and it needed a change, Raheem and Sane were so much better handled by Swansea. Should have brought Sergio on for Raheem early in the half.

I agree, hence my chemistry set analogy. There are blues here who have faith and think if we give Pep time, and money (which I'm sure he'll get) it'll all come good, and on the balance of probability they may well be right, but right now? Can anyone here say we've not dropped points because of Peps inexperience? Can anyone say we'd have fewer points if Conte were our manager? Or even Koeman?

We've not reached a stage where there are diverging camps emerging among the fans, but there is a bit of bewilderment setting in over the post match pints.

If Conte had the same amount of poor refereeing decisions Pep has had then we wouldn't be anywhere near as far behind as we are.

Again, what does any of this have to do with what happened versus Swansea? We've played the same team and system for how many matches on the trot now in all competitions? He's not tinkered much at all for a while now, even held the GK from the cup matches. This is maybe the most bizarre time possible to make this complaint.

A lot depends on whether you're in for watching good football or win at all costs.

Pellers was always going on about how it was not just the win, but the way we win, the way we play that mattered. That attitude distinguished him and Pep from the likes of Ferguson and Mourinho.

This season, our first half performance against Utd and Barcelona at home have lived up to Pellers words, if we get more of that I'm all for it.

You might well be right, maybe I just don't like watching my team perform in the gap between what has been and what is to come.

I have never been so excited about a new player. The closest was Aguero (and possibly Tevez), but I never thought we were getting a future balloon d'or winner until now.
Agreed
I just can't believe he is so good at his age.
The most exciting signing I can ever recall.
The rag media must be shiitting themselves.

Could you imagine if he played for the rags!!!

We'd already have a Sky Sports Special, a BT documentary and a Taiwanese dog food named after him.

Yup!
Sad the only thing the rag media are reporting is the alleged Aguero discontent.
The idiots haven't yet realised how deadly those two will be together. It will be the stuff of nightmares for the tossers!

Oh yes, that's the line they've all taken, Pep alienating the greatest striker in the Premier League!

But you're right, they are genuinely worried about Gabriel Jesus. Has anyone said the rags could have got him but they weren't interested?

Don't think so.
Ultimately I think we landed him cos we went in for him so early it caught lots of other teams out. Pep was also a massive draw.
City also have a history of signing good Brazilians. Rags don't.
Brilliant bit of business....

Come on I think that's a bit far fetched IMO. I cannot understand why fans can't see the bigger picture, it's a transitional season all this trial and error with personnel and tactics will bode well for next season. We are evolving and have slowly integrated young hungry talent who are going to be stars at our club for years to come. Once we get the full back situation sorted and hopefully a new keeper we will look frightening.
Yes Conte has come in and done a fantastic job but his rigid tactics are easier to adhere to compared to what Pep is trying to achieve here. We have seen flashes of brilliance already this season just wait until next season when his methods will eventually become second nature for most of the players and we play more consistently with different systems in our armoury. I'm loving this journey with Pep already, we just have to take some bumps along the way. Have faith and patience.!

With all due respect..............

Take the Sideshow Bob incident for one. That was a real six pointer right there. He gets sent off; we win the game; Sergio and Ferna don't get suspended; all of a sudden the league table looks a bit different. Chelsk have had some proper, lets call it luck this season. We haven't had much in the way of luck. In fact if it wasn't for the bad luck, we'd have had none at all. We just have to keep plugging away and not giving match officials any excuses to f**k us over.

Add Yaya banging in a late pen against Spurs to that as well, that'd be 2 more points for us and 2 less for Spurs.
