It’s the defenders fault that’s his follow through is out of control.

He has cleared the ball and doesn't even know the player is there.

Outstretched straight leg caused the damage. All his weight was in that challenge. He could have bent his leg to minimise it.

When you swing your leg to kick the ball a decent distance, it’s inevitable that your leg will fully extend. Any shot at goal is going to have an outstretched leg in the follow through. Should we be telling players not to shoot as hard? It’s a silly argument. He just got unlucky. It’s a clear red but it’s unlucky all round.
