Swimming Thread

Had another trip to Manchester Aquatics Centre this morning and managed another 2.5km (50 x 50m lengths).
This morning's entertainment was a FOC who decided it was a good idea to swim really slowly in the middle of the slow lane (i.e. the overtaking area), but took great offence when anyone overtook him on the inside, which was the only option given his actions. Bizarre behaviour!

Returned to Nantwich Leisure Centre outdoor pool this morning.
It might have rained but I honestly didn't notice. Pool temperature was cold when I first entered but I soon acclimatised to it and warmed up after a couple of lengths.
There were about 10 other people as daft as me in the pool, so at least the lifeguard didn't have a wasted shift.
And I managed 84 x 30.48m (100ft) lengths so hit my 2500m+ target for the day.

What was the temp? I was swimming in the lake last weekend when it was about 18c.

First time at my local leisure centre in Stafford this morning since their new swimming session setup started.
No more scrictly imposed hour long sessions. You can now turn up at any time within the "lane swimming" times and stay as long as you like.

Had a lane to myself all the time I was in the pool, didn't have to put up with the same people doing the same annoying things at the same time every day and there was no queue for the showers afterwards. Perfect!

110 x 25m lengths swum = 2750m
Annual total to date: 224.45204km.

Was back at Manchester Aquatics Centre again this morning. Was relatively quiet, but that didn't stop several students swimming in the wrong direction again.
They may be receiving a world class further education in Manchester, but they clearly don't learn anything about common sense.

Another trip to the Aquatics Centre this morning. Quiet in the "swim for fitness" section of the pool but loads of kids in the "dicking around" section.
It's free swimming again for kids in Manchester during half term so fair play to them and their parents for making the most of it!

Another 110 x 25m lengths swum at my local leisure centre this morning.
Oh, and I've just cut my finger on the grouting at the pool end, so the kids in the next "dicking around" session will have the spooktacular treat of swimming in my blood!

Returned to Manchester Aquatics Centre this morning. I'd had a few beers last night (only had 4, but there was no way I was missing out on International Stout Day!) so really didn't feel like a swim.
Was hard work to start off with, but after a few lengths I felt much better and glad I went.
Ended up doing another 100 x 25m lengths, which was a lot more than I anticipated when entering the pool!

After a few beers, that’s well done.

Back at the Aquatics Centre this morning for some 50 metre lengths. Completed 54 in total which felt like a decent workout after a lazy Sunday.

Another trip to Manchester Aquatics Centre this morning. I love swimming 50m lengths. It's so invigorating!

Did my swim at the East Manchester Leisure Centre this morning as I had some bits and bobs I needed to buy from Decathlon afterwards.
I'm usually happy to stay in the double width "slow lane" here, but there was a couple swimming in tandem chatting therefore making overtaking impossible.
I therefore chose the single width "slow lane" but soon got stuck behind a lady doing a backstroke / butterfly hybrid (I didn't even know that was a thing), so shifted across to the "medium lane". There was a youngish guy in there doing super fast crawl, who I kept giving way for, but we soon decided to stay on our own side of the lane & that worked well.
Meanwhile, there was a couple of old guys swimming really slowly in the "fast lane". They weren't doing anyone any harm, but overall its probably the worst example of lane discipline I've seen anywhere in a long time!

Is that all that were in the pool? Half a dozen of you? What time was that?

Was about 20 there across all lanes, plus the school.groupis in the other half of the pool.
I started my swim at 10:20iah just to coincide with off peak tram fares from town!

Still up in Manchester for tomorrow evening's match so did my swim at the Aquatics Centre this morning.
Managed 54 x 50m lengths which adds up to 2700m.
