Talks with Drogba? (merged)

Re: Talks with Drogba?

tolmie also said rip- London Boys, he intimated how instumental Bobby has been in our transfer business thus far..... and how much better he is than Hughes at player attraction.......i remember when we went for Drogba under Hughes and we was firmly rebuffed.

Re: Talks with Drogba?

i know i`m i lone voice in the wilderness but, not for me £20,000,000 for a 32/33 year old, and giving that to one of our main competitors. we`ll be offering £20 for wio to help buy the oranges for the rags first game in this seasons prem

Re: Talks with Drogba?

I don't think it's worth lining chelsea's pockets with £20 million or so for a player that will be finished in 2 years time

Re: Talks with Drogba?

From todays Sporting Life
Manchester City have denied stories linking them with a swoop for Didier Drogba despite his agent claiming there had been "direct contact".

City's primary striking target this summer was thought to be Inter Milan starlet Mario Balotelli, who has been heavily linked with a move to Eastlands.

But in an interview on French radio station Radio Monte Carlo, Chelsea frontman Drogba's agent claimed he had "direct contact" with City and said there "might be some surprises before August 32".

Thierno Seydi said: "We listen to everyone but Didier leaving Chelsea is not an easy task because everything is there for him to do well.

"He is 32 and open to everything. At his age, I cannot ignore the financial aspect."

But City have played down the story, stating they have no interest in signing Drogba and that any report linking the club with the striker is untrue.

Their director of communications Vicky Kloss told The Times: "We can categorically state we have no interest in signing Didier Drogba and any suggestion of an approach is entirely without foundation."

Re: Talks with Drogba?

I honestly can not believe the number of negative comments about Drogba on this thread, what short memories we have, think Samaras, Corradi, Bradbury etc etc.... The list goes on with piss poor strikers that we have signed over the years.

Here we are being linked to one of the best strikers to have played in the premier league and people are saying "he was made by Chelsea" who cares, a proven goal scorer will score goals wherever he goes, this is a fact.

Not that i think he will but what if Dzeko flopped like Samaras did, is it wise to spend £40m on a player that is unproven in our league (personally i dont think he would flop but its possible).

If Drogba cost us £20m but we won the league because he scored 30 goals we have already made back the £20m plus interest, if we finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th because of his goals we have made the money back with interest. I clearly dont see where the problem is.

There was a comment a few pages back saying that he took time to settle at Chelsea and if he did with us he would have finished his career before he got started, why would he struggle to settle, still in the same league with players around him that will match those available at Chelsea, if anything Balotelli and Dzeko may struggle to settle, new country, new players, new league, new tactics etc...

I will fully support any player that City buy, we want to win and buying players like Drogba only show this to be true, c'mon City sign this guy and anyone else that Bobby wants as we really deserve to win...

Re: Talks with Drogba?

Sounds like the biggest non-story on SSN this week (it is only Tuesday though!)

It's only Drogba's agent (infact the guy is NOT his agent he is only an assistant to his agent) saying this stuff...

According to the mecca of all football knowledge that is SSN - Drogba doesn't want to leave, we don't want to buy and chelsea don't want to sell... How is this even news?

i agree fat man, i dont like giving chelski any money to re-invest especially for a player of 32/33. although i think drogba would be brilliant, i`d prefer dzeko.and balo
