He didn't offend me. Just sounded worse than idiot rags in a boozer making shit up as to why the anointed one hasn't been able to persuade top class footballers to join the worlds greatest club tm.

They know that winding people up earns them more money through people ringing and texting in to argue against them. So they either emply people who don't care about their reputation like Brazil who will side with one team, or employ expert WUMS like Durham who picks one subject and makes Gough argue one side of it while he argues the other, both in the extreme, and both to maximise winding up the listeners.

Yesterday at about midday they had a Dutch bloke on saying that David Moyes isn't a good coach, even if he's a good manager, and doesn't know how to physically train his players, even if he knows how to get them to play. And Quinny lapped it up, leaving little one liners open to wind Rags up.

As for the rag wankfest, think of it this way... For 25 years they've had truculence and contempt from a man who wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire in terms of rag manager coverage. By being nice to Davey, they no doubt expect a period of McGlasnost from the rags and in turn all that brings. Call it relationship building if you like.

That's the area he comes from but I've heard him say he's a rag fan and he almost invariably takes a heavily pro rag stance on TV and radio so he's probably another Irani or Gough who supports more than one team.
