The annual target must be winning the prem. That then creates the only other target that a club like ours should have and that is winning the CL. The cups are incidental. Winning a cup does not propel you towards being a great club up there with the Barcas and RMs. Winning the prem improves your early stage prospects in the CL. It attracts top players. In this way, success breeds success. Imo if you say you can't have the prem as a target because of all the variables like the performances of other teams, then you're confusing setting targets with achieving them. Of course you can't say that you'll achieve a target but that doesn't mean you can't set the target in the first place. Great teams are those that dominate their domestic leagues year in year out and carry that momentum into the CL. For me the prem is the fundamental target for every season. Nothing else.
