Good move for him, said from the start Anderlecht was a bad move. Spending a season as a regular starter in the Championship makes much more sense, especially if you are a defender in my opinion. Hopefully he can turn this season around!

Not wanting to offend but he looked very good in the Championship for Blackburn last season which I thought would be a higher standard than Belgium - I may well be wrong about that.

Maybe not,but it offers him a better opportunity to master the basics,learn his bread and butter,and gain more confidence.

He’s already played half a season in the Championship with Blackburn, 17 starts, so if he can get the same level of game time with Stoke he’ll have had a productive season. Playing and living abroad, even if for six months, will have presented him with different challenges and taken him out of his comfort zone; he’ll arguably be all the better for that.
