Raducanu looked fit, healthy, and confident. Smiled her way through the game. Still a certain amount of inaccuracy and she still needs to take the ball earlier but she did what she had to to see off the one time champion.

So good to see her healthy and happy. All to often seems miserable on the court and injured so fingers crossed she can raise it again for the next match.

Raducanu can be a superstar and multiple-major winner, but does she want it badly enough. she's got all the shots and a good serve, (she still needs to take the ball earlier), but it's so hard on grass because of the uneven bounce at times. Maybe setting up the winning shot quicker rather than just rallying to work her opponent into making a bad shot. She can come in more and volley more to kill the point

I think we all know she can play and be a winner, but does she believe it herself? That is the question
If she wins the next game against the number 1 seed, I would not bet against her winning it

It's more mental than being injured at times ? it was too easy for her to just turn off and walk away and blame somebody else, I think Mark Petchey is a good coach for her. Now it's time to prove everybody is wrong about you

Maybe she has grown up a bit and told her interfering father to back off.
There was one back hand cross court passing shot that she really ripped into and left her opponent smiling ruefully. A good example of her confidence. Petchey lets her breathe and does not overwhelm her. Signs of the best Emma returning. She has moved steadily from outside the top 100 to 40 now, top 10 is clearly possible.
The world no.1 awaits on Friday.

Musetti's loss could be Ben Shelton's gain if he's able to continue playing well in that portion of the bracket, but it's still early.
Watched some of Shelton's match last night and he looks in good nick. Some superb passing shots.

What a farcical end to play last night. Both Shelton and his opponent complaining to the referee that the surface was unsuitable to continue yet he made them play most of the 3rd set. Then, with Shelton only needing to serve out the match, he takes them off! Hopefully he'll be comfortably into the 3rd round.

If she plays like that she will give it a good go. Shame she’s got the world number one next.
Well, if someone is going to take out the world number one, she's got as good of a chance as anyone playing on home soil with a crowd behind her. We're quickly running out of other seeded options on the Women's side, but there's always hope.

I'll be cheering for her even more this next match.

Yeah, another headscratcher being up 5-4 in the 3rd set with Ben up 2 sets already. Sad too for the paying public and for both players.

If Ben doesn't win the set in the next game that he was serving on, then fine, finish the set and match today, but if he did, think of all the unnecessary next day player prep and momentum that was perhaps lost? SMH...

It's also a shame those courts don't have outside lights, but I get it, tradition and all that. Unfortunately, it's the paying fans and players that pay the price for questionable decisions and shenanigans like that.

A 1 minute game with some key aces was just fine. As Ben said in the post-match, 30 minutes of warm up and 1 minute of play was what was needed. Shelton would be favored in the next two matches until he would likely see Sinner in the QFs if he can keep things going.

Raducanu is back. She lost to the number one, but put up a brilliant fight. In her long road back she has struggled against the top players but against Sabalenka her new found confidence came so close to taking her through.
There was one moment in the first set when we saw the change in her. She slipped and fell. Previously that would have signalled the end as she called for medical treatment. This time, after a short period of recovery, she got to her feet with a grin.
Sabalenka is a true number one and was able to raise her game at the crucial moments but make no mistake we saw the real Emma in this match. The mental problems seem behind her and she had the confidence to take the ball early which is one of her strengths just beginning to show again. I do hope she can keep Petchey in her corner as he seems to understand that she needs to do things her way. He does not try to change her but lets her breathe.
Meanwhile, with little fuss, Kartal is through to the second week. She has risen an astonishing 250 places in the rankings in the last twelve months to stand at 51. She is a tough cookie and has every chance of further progress.
On the men’s side Norrie is through to the second week. I haven’t managed to see him this year at Wimbledon, so I can’t really comment but I look forward to seeing him next week.

Didn’t see the end of the match but woke up to read to BBC headline that Raducanu came “agonisingly close” to beating the Sabalenka. Then I saw the score and it was 6-4 at the end of a 2-0 win. So this is the BBC bigging her up again - just what she needs :(

In fairness, she did come close to winning the first set and she played pretty well from what I saw. Still dont think she’ll ever win another Grand Slam but I’ll be happy to come back on here and say I was wrong if she does.

The Alacaraz-Struff match was entertaining with Struff really going for some shots.

Plucky Brit loser with smiles and waving as she exits the tournament.

Raducanu led the second set 4-1 but Sabalenka broke back and held her own service twice to take it to 4-4. At that point Raducanu looked to be tiring after the long rallies, so the final score doesn’t tell the full story. I venture to suggest that’s the hardest game physically she has had for a long while. She now needs to go deep into the US hard court season and build up her endurance.
Petchey, Incidently, has yet to decide his next move.
