Tennis Thread

Watched it this morning when I got up. As long as you don't see how long the replay stream is on Amazon it was easier than staying up. She's definitely the real deal. Hopefully she gives British tennis fans a genuine chance to experience major finals over the next 10 years as it was looking unlikely after Murray.

She gets help from both, as it should be.

She let Nigel Sears go after Wimbledon (Murray's father in law) and went with Andy Richardson.

McEnroe was absolutely right at the time (he was also speaking from experience having been 17 when he met Connors in the semi in 77 at Wimbledon) the occasion had got to her and the anxiety had taken it out of her legs.

People also need to remember it is only in the last three months she has started to train as a professional athlete, due to Covid and her A Level studies.

Her career record so far is 9-3 - which just shows you what a phenomenal achievement it has been by Emma to go all the way to the Final.

She will get bigger and stronger over the next year and that's when we will get to see how far she can really go.

She's got it between the ears, she does all the fundamentals well.

Henman was an excellent grass court player, unlucky to play in an era when Sampras, Agassi and others were ruling the roost.

For Murray to win Slams in an era of Fed, Nadal and Djoko, is nothing short of phenomenal and deserves to be lauded as one of this country's greatest.

Emma will hopefully be joining him.
Re Henman, his serve and volley game was thwarted at Wimbledon when they took steps to slow the courts down. I think he had a better game than most people gave him credit for. He reached the semis at Roland Garros.

Interestingly, she is currently 12/1 to win SPOTY (in from 500/1 before the US open began) that's got to be worth a tenner, her odds will plummet if she wins the final.

Current bookies favourite is Tom Daley @ 2/1. Jason Kenny is 5/1 and Adam Peaty 6/1
Don't know where your seeing that I checked this morning she was around 6/5 with most bookies now she's odds on with them all Screenshot_20210910_200641_com.android.chrome.jpg

Looks like its on Channel 4 tonight too which is good
No update on whether they are showing mens final.
Load of tv politics, BBC highlights cancelled, Amazon selling final rights to Channel 4 and money to be reinvested into Women's game.
Like all top Sport events, it would be great to see these on terrestrial television.
There are millions of people that are only hearing about Emma on news bulletins in what could become one of the great tennis stories of all time.
