Be careful where you're going with that, our crowds weren't all that hot in the mid to late 80s either.

Tbh all this dick-waving over attendances is a bit pointless, concentrate on the fact that we'd rather be 5th in the table than 14th!

Where did I say they were ?.....although I am sure ours were healthier than that. Thing is when we were relegated to the old 3rd Division we averaged nearly 28k. The Mighty Sunderland didn't get close to that(averaged 17,427 and won The League) . I just think he's a bit of a cheeky c*nt having a go at our support when there's is nothing to write home about......

yesterdays turnout was average at best, but there are mitigating circumstances.

it's ok for sunderland fans to mock city's away support, but then i doubt they are being ripped off everywhere they go, i doubt very much for instance sunderland are paying/paid 49 quid to got fulham and 47 for spurs 35 for blackburn etc.

sunderland will be lower catergory, which is fair enough.

sunderland have an excellent away support, and good luck to them, but like city, it isn't a wealthy area, that why niall quinn was virtually giving season tickets away at the start of the season for juniors, and i noticed next year at sunderland kids will only be charged 49 for a season at the stadium of light, which i think is brilliant.

for a sunderland fan again to mock city about filling a ground is a bit rich when tickets at sunderland never get anywhere near the 46 quid that city fans are asked to pay for big matches, and even the most deluded sunderland fan knows what happened to their crowds when they were shit.

The away clubs should stop fucking robbing us blind for ticket prices look at Fulham £49 and then Arsenal £33 (FANTASTIC) its not our bad support its because we are getting ripped off everywhere we go and its a fooking joke I go quite a lot of away games yesterday I didn't because it was mothers day and it was on sky Fulham can get fucked at £49 but im going Burnley and Arsenal and I will be defo at West Ham :)

If you want to make a comparison then here goes. When we twice finished 7th under Reid we averaged over 46000. This would have been a lot higher had the away support not been so poor. You are in a higher position this season and averaging 45000 with far better away support at your ground. Fact is we would comfortably sellout if we were chasing a champions league spot and had the team you have.

And what average would you be getting if you were in League 1? Dont doubt how loyal City's support is. Especially when you're numbers dwindled by about half when you went down only 1 division.

Wasn't so long ago you were regularly getting crowds of 35k in the premier. If you went down with record low points twice then you would say goodbye to a third of them. The last time we went down it under Murray it was the last straw for some who vowed not to return until he went. City couldn't sellout at half the away grounds last season and that included ones on your doorstep like Wigan and Blackburn and only had about 1400 at Sunderland. Whereas we were in a relegation fight, had a dreadful away record but still managed to sell out all but a couple of away matches including 3000 at your place.

Sorry mate, but Sunderland is too much of a shit tip to spend 2 hours travelling to.
Get Quinny to move your ground to say, Darlington or Durham or summat and watch the away numbers increase.
Its a long way to go to get frostbite, get slurred at, get spoken to in a different language, and come away needing a tetanus jab.

You obviously must feel the same about most places where City play if your away numbers are anything to go by.

We had more than that at Pompey for a midweek game despite it being 350 away.

Probably because we were utter dross in them years andconstantly yo-yoed between divisions.

Let's be honest, it was a shocking turn out yesterday.

It looked full where I was stood until I watched the highlights to see the gaping section of empty seats.

Sunderland are impressive away of that there is no doubt, this is aided by huge supporter branches in both Manchester and London.

Regarding the club taking reduced allocations you can't blame them really however not to be able to sell 2600 for a 2 hour trip is embarrasing.

We need to start giving the aura of a big club i.e. selling out every allocation, if the club needs to help with free buses then this is what they should do.

i must have imagined the first ever game at the staium of light, and the one where don hutchinson scored the winner, boty sell outs for city fans.
