So if we do the maths (someone double check this for me)...7700 applicants, 86% of female applications are successful, 55% overall.

That means we've granted 4,325 Albanians asylym and 593 were not women (ie men or children)?

So not an invasion of 10,000 young men, but 593 men+children

Doesn’t sound half as scary though and gives the impression you aren’t in fact being invaded at all. That’s not what the lunatics want to hear, they want good reason to post on message boards how the country is overrun and it’s no longer safe due to millions of Albanians selling drugs and prostituting your mums.

There’s certainly a running theme to these types of threads and it’s the same posters rocking up time and time again to complain about how immigration is ruining their otherwise heaven on earth...

Just double checked it and came up with the same answer.
As women are unlikely to turn up without their kids I suspect the number of men in the 593 is probably in double figures and could fit in a minibus.

Please repost all of these racist posts. I haven’t read the whole thread, so maybe there are, but I can’t say I’ve seen any.

I’ve seen lots of pretty fair and accurate points. The numbers are unsustainable and we can’t be in a situation where so many people are being trafficked over by criminals. Lots of the people coming over are clearly not refugees and are economic migrants.

We need to fix the asylum system and stop people coming here illegally. I think that’s a reasonable opinion shared by millions.

Anytime anyone tries to have a debate about issues like this they are called racist and discussion gets stopped. Even on this thread it’s turned into people going on about brexit/ calling others thick.

The numbers are sustainable. We have millions of jobs unfilled.

We just need more investment in all services to accommodate the extra people we need.

Immigration should be points/skills based.

Policy should ignore big business that basically wants hundreds of thousands of migrant workers they can pay peanuts too.

Rwanda is a disgrace of an idea, let’s get that straight but control of numbers and who comes into the UK is entirely sensible.

Work with the French, build reception centres fit for purpose that treat people as human beings but enforce policy and reject those that simply have no right just to want to come and live in and work in the UK.

The UK is incredibly diverse and welcoming and always will be. Nothing wrong with wanting control of immigration policy.

We’ve always had control of it, it’s just that our government of the past 12 years doesn’t want to implement anything workable.

As they kick their can further down the road, more people arrive in dinghies and are put in centres already at 300% capacity, causing diseases and malnutrition.

At some point we will need a grown up HS that doesn’t need to fight a culture war and give resources to all necessary services we need to accommodate more working aged people.

Until then, we will go round in the same circles on here with some playing the race card and others trying to defend the current policy.

Come the election, there will be a fag paper between Labour and Tory immigration policy imo.

Let’s all hope that Sir Kier and his team manage to frame the debate and ensure the language used is far better.

Entirely agree on the weaponisation of immigration both sides of the political spectrum are guilty of at times.

The UK needs immigration, especially Scotland and Wales and we will always welcome those who want to come here to make a new life imo. Policy surrounding that has to be grown up, humane and communicated correctly.

If we have millions of jobs unfilled, then let's stop paying unemployment benefits because they should be easily be able to find jobs, right?
Can't have it both ways.

And it isn't immigration per se. Those "against" immigration are not arguing for complete bans, they are asking for a) control over numbers and b) curtailing illegal immigrants.
As an immigrant myself, there is nothing wrong or "racist" about either point.
