Testimonial for Dunny

why should the ten year rule be broken for him?

Personally I am upset he hasn't got the bollocks to step up to the mark, work his tits off and fight for his place, surely if he loved us as much as we do him he would be staying and fighting.

Bollocks!

We have paid him very well for his nine years of 'loyal service'.

The only time any club has come in for him during that time was when Dunney spat his dummy out last year because he was holding the club to ransom over a new deal.

He was literally out the door and off to Portsmouth, and don't you believe it.

So much so that he decided to get himself sent-off for good measure in the 8-1 humiliation at Boro.

I am not the slightest sad to see him go and if people were honest enough to admit it, he should maybe have gone a couple years back.

A poor passer, limited technically, brave and commited, yes, an outstanding defender, far from it.

The only constant during his time with us that he was above the rest of the mediocrity we had.

Good luck, but a testimonial? do me a favour.

This is only my opinion, but it never ceased to amaze me what my fellow blues considered of Dunne's defensive qualities.

100% spot on tolmie

Testimonials are out of date they were for players who weren't millionaires and were t help players when there footballing days were over No modern day player needs one I'd rather Neil Young finally got the one he was promised

didnt niall quinn donate all the proceeds from his to a charity ??
probly too embarrassed to accept it ,altho still a generous thing to do

We struggle to sell tickets for cup games, so I really don't think a testimonial is a good idea. I would prefer a sell on fee to be paid to him from the transfer fee

I love football, one of the reasons is that you get 40,000 people with 40,000 opinions. Richard Dunne will not remebered as one of the all time great centre halfs, as City have progressed in recent years and we have begun to defend higher up the pitch he has been found a bit wanting in temrs of distribution. However Richard Dunne will be remembered who for a very long time gave all for his club.

Yes he had troubles at first, but he came through them to become a true professional who has led our club through some pretty shit years. Last ditch tackles, throwing body in front of boots, heads and shots, heading clear where you has no right, bleeding and carrying on - thats how i will remeber the dunnie monster.

Testimonial are a dated concept at the upper end of the modern game in the fact that players do not need the money, and in that instance i dont believe the 10 year rule applier. Games can be arranged for nominated charities and serve as an oppurtunity for fans and player to say a fond farewell to each other.

I hope we do make something happen for Dunne, as I am in favour of doing something for Weaver, both players came through poor times to make telling contributions at our club for which i will always be thankful.

Why sarcasm? Dunnie showed nothing but loyalty.

FFS What team were you supporting??

Feckin armchair generals...

I wouldn't go, i think testimonials have had there day in the prem, you don't get many skint players who our going to struggle once they retire unless they've spuked it all. Quinns was a good gesture giving the money to charity though.

it's dunne's fault he's going because he doesn't love us and won't fight for his place? i've heard it all now. Dunne made it very clear he was prepared to fight for his place, it's become clear mark hughes doesn't fancy him, what was dunnie supposed to do, beg? The man has some pride you know...
