Tevez: "I am a City fan. When United play City, I root for City"

Can't remember who it was against (might have been the rags actually?) but as he usually did, chased down every single ball. But he went head first, dived forward to try and block a clearance from their defender. Loved his work rate, we haven't had a player that would do that since.

Loved the guy, and he was our talisman.

don't care about his issues with Bobby, at the time it was something personal. However he produced 100% every time he crossed that line for our club and that
is what he will be remembered for by myself and my lad including the link up play between him and kun was great. Tevez is actually still the only player who has come and gone that my 8 year old lad asks why did we sell him......

and how can you forget the RIP FERGIE banner on the open top bus parade when we won the first title - classic

I think that's debatable. Every time he got on the pitch he gave 100%. What happened in Munich and the after effect was unfortunate, but it wasn't all down to Carlos. As much as I love Mancini, he must shoulder some of the blame as well.

Saying that, they both put it aside for the final few games and Tevez came back to help fire us to the title.
True....!

It's the second quote, for me, that shows he does look back at us with affection. It shows he recognises how important he was for us at that time and that, partially thanks to him, we have now arrived on the big stage.

He's not hankering for a return is he?

I wish, dream day that would be..

Imagine the fun he would be having right now with no silva and aguero, front to himself with KDB and navas feeding the ball to him. How we miss a player like Tevez.

I still say the fall out with RM was a 50 / 50, RM didnt have the best man to man management skills.

Not seen 100% commitment on the pitch like it since my first game in 1979. Every game he chased the ball for 90 mins

We played Arsenal at the Emirates just after new year in 2011 and some of us got invited to the team hotel the night before the game. The players came out from the dining room and it was interesting to see their interaction (or lack of it) with the fans. Kompany was aloof, Mario rushed past with his hoodie over his face, others were polite but no more but there were two couldn't do enough for us and that was SWP and Tevez. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they had photos with everyone when quite a few just walked past as though we weren't there.

He may not have loved the club but he was a true professional in every sense of the word and I'll always respect him for that.

Me too, although Tevez got nearly all the blame. While I was a fan of Mancini, I did think the situation was poorly managed and the flashpoint could have been avoided. Ah well, water under the bridge and both guys are now deservedly City legends.

I can agree with you on this. What a shame he had to get off to Italy. He was an absolute whirlwind of a player.

In spite of all that went on, there's stil a place in my heart for this ugly little fooker : )

Perfect spearhead for that 'cowboy' era of ours where we were new, wadded and trying to be the best. I don't think he quite fits the new phase our club is in, nevertheless, if he came back it would be as close as we could get to 'Aguero back up for Aguero' haha

History will remember him as one of City's greatest, no matter what happened off the pitch. It's what he did in the 90 minutes he played what people will remember.

Hahaha, that's quality.

That's the ammunition for this week sorted.

He could've gone on to be a true legend here, shame the spat with Mancini spoiled it. His behaviour left a very bitter taste in the mouth, has to be said.

I'll try and reflect on the sweeter moments though.

When he signed and Garry Cook welcomed him at the reception of COMS with a hug like Jesus to a long lost disciple. The Welcome to Manchester poster. All the rags saying they were glad to see the back of him, and some even saying they got the better deal on signing Owen for free (mentalists).

His goal in the League Cup semi derby at home where he gave it to Neville on the touchline and cupped his ears in front of Taggart when we were singing his name.

Some real quality moments.

The 4-2 at the Bridge where he ran the show and was battling anyone and everyone, squaring up to Terry. Was quality.

One of the more obscure moments I can think of is that season where we played him as a false nine and he pretty much singlehandedly dragged us to 3rd and our first top four finish. And besides his stunning brilliance, leading the entire side, was one particular moment when we played Chelsea at home that season that stands out for me.

It was in the lashing rain when Chelsea got a penalty in the dying moments to potentially equalise, Given saved it, cue raptures and the ball being cleared wide. Well the ball fell between Tevez and Terry, at the touchline and they both hurtled towards it, sprinting at full pelt. Both of them hurled themselves at it smashing each other in the 50/50, Tevez being the much smaller man didn't hesitate and threw himself at it. When they came together, Tevez picked himself up and came away with the ball, initiating a counter attack. Terry was left in a heap on the floor and eventually hobbled off, injured.

That was Tevez. And he was a sight to behold at times.

Just wish it didn't turn out the way it had.
Nice one pal, top post!

Like in anything in life, always remember the good times!
