I would go for Cavani!! I know he,s signed a new contract but he would fit in well me thinks!!! I was also impressed with Porto,s Falco Very good in the box and class in the air. We could prob get him for a good price 10-20 mill???
No we can't!

We were at our best last year when there was flexibility in the front line. Tevez offered that as he drifted and came deep. Aguero would also offer that, someone like Drogba and Eto'o wouldn't. I think Mancini is thinking along these lines, as players he has admitted to liking such as like Sanchez, Lavezzi and Cavani offer that flexibility too. Dzeko offers a different look, and that is his role. I rate him.

Those saying we don't need a 1st choice replacement are missing the fact that we are playing 60+ games next year (hopefully) so there will be plenty of rotation between the attacking options. Mancini wanted another striker anyway, so I can see us bringing in two.

Like the majority Aguero just seems to make sense, and as for him not settling, yes that's a possibility, but look how well Suarez has settled for Liverpool and how badly Torres settled at Chelsea. Whoever we sign is going to be on some level a risk.

Alternatively I wouldn't mind Higuain, but my 2nd choice would probably be Hulk

A useful and thought-provoking post SWJ

We need to crack on with sounding out these targets

Personally think Anelka's been poor for Chelsea the last 2 seasons. Plus I doubt he'd be happy sitting on the bench

This is the problem with Anelka on a free, he'd probably not be happy being used as a fourth choice striker.

Am I missing something? Have Chelsea released him? Surely not....

-- Tue Jul 05, 2011 7:50 pm --

Senario: Bear with me:

Several Years ago Chelsea had Winston Bogarde, he lived in Amsterdam & used to fly over daily to train with the team & fly back again afterwards.

When Owen was at Newcastle he alledgedly flew via chopper to Tyneside everyday from his cheshire home.

Tevez wants to be somewhere where his kids can "adapt"

He earns £1m per month....

Is there any chance he could live in Madrid with his family & commute 1st class daily?

It's approx 2 & a quarter hours from Manchester to Madrid. He could fly at 7 (9am Spain time) & be at carrington for 10, for training. Catch the 1pm flight home & be back in madrid for 5ish their time.

Is that a viable short term solution????

I can't see any major reason this couldn't work, it would be awkward but do-able. If family was really the only issue they would have considered this.....but we all know family isn't the only issue

If he wants to go fair play to the lad he has played a blinder the last two seasons for us. wouldnt be where we are now if it wasnt for Tevez. But if he wants to leave for family reasons then so be it. I wont hold a grudge.

His replacement.

I'm not a fan of Lavezzi and Cavani. But I trust Mancini will make the right choice for a replacement.

If I was manager I would straight swap him for David Villa. As I see him as the only striker who can replace him.
