Tevez - staying or going?

Nothing has really changed though apart from Tevez coming out and saying it openly rather than constantly hinting at it. It's not as if clubs around the world have been unaware that he has been wanting out, is it?

For Tevez to go there still needs to be a buyer that:

a) wants him and that Tevez is willing to play for

b) is willing to pay an acceptable price to City

c) is willing to pay a salary acceptable to Tevez

I very much doubt there are many (if any) teams that fit the above criteria so it is pretty much the same situation as 48 hours ago. He still has 3 years on his contract and I very much doubt we're going to let him go for a stupidly low amount.

Not sure if it's a good or bad thing but I can still see him being with us next season.
This, also last time I wanna say it at the risk of sounding like a broken record.
Nothing to see here people....same shit different day, lets not all get dramatic.

For people hating on him, he hates Manchester, he doesn't hate Manchester city! BOSH

I got a bad feeling that Tevez caught the club by surprise with this public statement. Something tells me he didn't discuss this with the club before going public and now he left us with our pants down.

Thanks to that we can forget about getting anything more than 25m for him I think.

Fucking strip him off the Captaincy right now and get rid ASAP.
He has got 3 years left, he aint going on the cheap and he aint going to another club in this country.

rubbish!

we have a minimum price for tevez and its a dam site more than 25 mill, if he stays then fine,if he's transferd its market value or we dont sell,if he stays in south america we sue for breach of contract. we can only lose a good player here we will not lose financially

Tevez + cash for Sneijder and Eto'o continues to make sense to me. Everyone a winner.

Dunno if it's been said already but if he's so keen to go home maybe Kia should buy up his ownership again, £35M should do it, and then he can go back to Boca Juniors. Not sure how it all works though, can anyone enlighten me?

If he goes (which I still have my doubts about), I would quite like Rossi or Aguero. For a short term fix I'd be quite happy with Eto'o or Villa.

IMO

The club knew Tevez was going to say something and this is why Mancini mentioned we tried for a swap for Eto in the Sunday papers.

Can see other players being offered in a swap for Tevez now but only a couple of teams could afford this transfer, Inter and Madrid.

Either way we have to do whats best for City and not whats best for Tevez and this means getting as much as we possibly can for him.

It's about time City started playing hardball with clubs just like the Italians have over Sanchez, Pastore etc with other clubs.

We are in no need to sell but I hope this is resolved sooner rather than later as the whole tevez circus takes the emphasis away from the club and the great season we have to look forward to and onto a player wanting away.

from the Times.
Manchester City will demand a fee of around €55 million for Carlos Tevez to get his wish and leave Eastlands. City officials have responded to Tevez’s latest attempt to sever ties with the club with a resigned shrug.

The Blues hierarchy were anticipating such a move and, given the bad blood which exists between Tevez’s trusted advisor Kia Joorabchian and City chief executive Garry Cook and director of football Brian Marwood, it came as no surprise that it was delivered on the day a €7.7 million transfer for Gael Clichy was completed and Partizan Belgrade skipper Stefan Savic arrived for a medical.

Whilst Tevez has cited a desire to spend more time with his two daughters and wife Vanesa as the major reason for his request to leave, City believe it is a smokescreen, despite their acceptance domestic life has not been easy for the South American during four years in Manchester.

There has been no official response to last night’s announcement from a player currently appearing for Argentina at the Copa America, and it seems there is unlikely to be so just yet.

For City are relaxed in the knowledge that Tevez has three years remaining on a contract that is estimated to be worth in excess of €220,000-a-week. It means they have no reason to allow their skipper to leave on the cheap, and have absolutely no intention of doing so.

At a stroke, the figures involved cut down the number of potential suitors to around half a dozen, some of which have not shown any desire to bid for the player.

Barcelona for instance are currently haggling with Udinese over a price for City target Alexis Sanchez, whilst Chelsea have other areas of the field to address, having already splashed out €55 million on Fernando Torres in January.

Both Milan clubs and Real Madrid might be more likely to do a deal and Juventus have previously expressed an interest, even if that would mean Tevez giving up the prospect of Champions League football once more, having spent two years trying to qualify for Europe’s number one club competition with City.

It raises the potential for Tevez having to stay in the north-west, although, either way, there is unlikely to be a speedy resolution to an impasse it is difficult to see being resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does this statement add up to a transfer request? And as such does this not mean he waves the compensation due on his contract and therefore the buying club can just negotiate from scratch leaving us no slack to pick up?

I'm no expert but that's how I see it.

You would think so. And even if it isn't technically a transfer request presumably the club would just ask him to put in an official request before they would consider anything, if it was to our advantage.
