When he said "calm down" to Pep. I almost broke my TV. Until that point, I was quietly angry.I'm generally of a pacifistic nature but how much did I want him to lay out mike dean today?
Even Dean's facial expression when Pep was laying into him over the call. You could tell Dean was thinking, "Yeah, that was a shit call." He just kept quiet and let Pep blow off.
Then a few minutes later, he had the nerve to say "Calm down!" I was livid... Wanted to Walk into my TV and Bull rush the fukker. :X

Did everyone know it was outside the box? Took a replay for me to see. I think VAR looked and said outside the box which means play on. The mistake was Tierney’s, not VAR’s. Should have clearly been whistled a foul. Then it can be checked for where AND checked for what it might have been — a last man sending-off offense. Once (obviously) it’s not a foul then it’s not a yellow, which it probably was, if not a last-man sending off. Tierney knew exactly what the stakes were if he blew there, just as he knew the stakes on not calling Milner’s obvious yellow for the hack on Bernie. It’s not in my mind that he’s a cheat or incompetent (I doubt he’s the former but he might be the latter) — it’s that he’s a fucking coward. The obvious second yellow on Milner underscores his mindset on the Foden box call. He pissed his pants, simple as.VAR can't step in on that, was outside the box.
I think the refs probably left that to play out and wait for var to review if it's a foul and in the box, it's the easy thing to do. whilst it isn't right it is kind of understandable.
It's one of the parts of the game that make little sense under the current rules. Why can't var be looking at that as play goes on and suggest a card, which can be brandished when play next stops. it doesn't stop the game. Refs are human, they'll naturally play safe when they have var to fall back on, if var hadn't been there he makes that decision straight away gives a foul and a yellow.

If you’re too petrified to make the proper calls when they’re obvious, you shouldn’t be officiating at this level when the stakes are so incredibly high. Again, not saying he’s a cheat or even bad — but you can’t ignore fouls because of their possible consequences on the match. That’s what you’re there for.
He is both a cheat and bad. But how is this any worse than Oliver's non call on TAA? It is systematic corruption and very likely tacitly encouraged by the FA.
