Did anyone else find it quite nice to see Gemili on the start line for the 100M. Seemed pleased to be there and just took it all in. Big future for him in athletics, sub 10 will come within a year i reckon.

Yeah seems a really nice guy too, can't believe he is only 18, he's only going to get faster.

Bolt suffered with ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) as a child. Cricket was Bolt's first love but athletics was Bolt's father's way of trying to get Usain to burn up the over abundance of energy he possessed.

He comes from a poor background & carries the hopes & dreams of a nation of 2.7 million people on his shoulders . He's said many times in the past that he wants to retire as early as possible because he struggles to cope with the demands & expectations heaped on him.

The antics that he displays before running are just his way of coping with the pressure of competition & he has ALWAYS behaved the same even as a junior. When you say 'ALL' sprinters what you need to understand is the cultural differences between Americans, West Indians & the British. The British are renowned for their reserved demeanour whilst the Americans & Jamaicans in particular are known for their demonstrative nature. Please don't take what comes to them naturally as 'arrogance' because all you are showing is your ignorance of the cultural nature of the world's fastest men.......
Excuse me? Can you show me where I said ALL (your capitals) sprinters? And where did I say they were arrogant? So please; don't accuse me of ignorance when you're the one putting words into my mouth. Okay?

I think his response was also to Meat & Spuds who did say 'all'.
That's okay, but he shouldn't have quoted my post in his reply. He should have responded directly to Meat & Spuds.

It is a bit embarrassing to watch, all that posturing and preening. Watch a recording of the reactions of Ennis, Farah and Rutherford last night for the way to conduct yourself after winning the gold medal, not a semi final

They still look like preening dicks though.

I say that as a reserved Englishman, it's in my nature to say such things and I was brought up that way. By having a go, at English people, on an English based forum, with a reserved mentality, you are showing your ignorance of the English culture.
Who's having a go at the English culture? Read my post carefully & tell me where! I've followed Bolt's career with interest & in doing so gained an insight into what maketh the man.

It's you whose showing your ignorance by claiming they look like preening dicks instead of just trying to understand that culturally they are different to us. If you want to have a go about cultural differences, do it on another thread & don't hide behind the 2012 Olympic 100 metres final ffs.

You are having a go at the English culture. I am of the English culture where people that act like preening dicks are called as such, which seems to upset you "as you have followd Bolt's career". If you accept that they we are all culturally different, you should accept that the English culture may frown upon such preening and get your knickers in less of a twist.

And I am not hiding behind anything dibble. The winner of the 100m generally always acts like a tit after winning when compared with the winners of other events. It is hardly sensational to say so. And it has been such for as long as I can remember. Even before the final last night, rather than just a wave at the camera when they are annouced, they each have their own special "move", like "the beast". You don't see that before the marathon, mens coxless 4, clay pigeon shooting or anything else do you.

I shall add "ffs" now, to add further emphasis.

FFS!

But that is why people love the 100m final, because it is entertaining. There is nothing wrong with all the 'preening' you have mentioned.

So I suppose when Aguero scored the last minute winner that you thought everyone should stop munching their cucumber and water cress sandwiches, say hurrah and applause politely? Dunno about you mate but I and everyone around me went absolutely mental!

I suppose that by your reckoning that after scoring the winner, Aguero should have just walked over to his team mates and shook hands? Dunno about that one either because just like me the players and the vast majority of Manchester City fans went mental too!!

You may have some kind of repressive syndrome that needs medical attention, but when it comes to others not being as stiff in their demeaour as you obviously are, you need to wind your neck in and let people be what they are and do as they see as best for them in the heat of battle!!

It's all about sports psychology and the removal of doubt in ones mind before an event. Some rely on prayer, some on solitude, some on music and others on strutting about to psych themselves up. Ali used to get into his opponents faces before battle, Baconface uses mind games, I've seen athletes incite the crowd to chant their names and to cheer them on to victory, so why have you got a problem with it!

If you don't like the way 100m sprinters conduct themselves, don't bust a blood vessel, just wind your neck in and don't watch them....... It's as simple as that!

Well done on the huge strawman you built, so I'll ignore that as it is not relevant.

I also didn't burst any blood vessel. I said they look like preening dicks and I am very relaxed about it as they do. You are the one coming up with stories of ADHD, his upbringing, their culture and getting upset over. I couldn't give a fuck. They look like preening dicks. And I'll be winding nothing in, if it's all the same to you flower.

If you don't like others disagreeing then maybe an open forum isn't the best place to be.

The only straw here fella is the one your flakey argument is made of. I don't mind others disagreeing with my point of view, because if eveyone agreed with me, they be right of course but what a boring forum this would be. :-)

Unlike Manchester City last season, the olympic spinters haven't got a league format to prove whose the best. I've just witnessed one of the favorites for the womens 100m hurdles go out in her heat after clipping a hurdle and stumbling hence 4 years of hard work and toil went out of the window in her one and only race.

As Bolt found last year in the world championships, even though he was favourite and head and shoulders above the rest of the field, he twitched under starters orders causing a false start and his championship was over. He said himself he was desperate for this not to happen this time around which made his anxiety even greater than normal.

10 seconds and it's all over and all the runners involved in last nights final did everything they could to gain that millisecond of an advantage that could turn 4th into gold and if that meant 'preening' themselves like 'dicks' well who could blame them. I'm sure Usain Bolt is sat in his chalet staring at his gold medal completely arsed about you thinking a he's a preening dick!

As a previous poster has pointed out, the men's 100m final is the stellar event at every athletics meeting. Last night the four fastest men in human history lined up against each other for a one-time, all or nothing race. Everyone I knew was completely absorbed by the theatre and drama of the build up in expectation of a possible record-breaking race.

Every seat in the Olympic stadium was sold out, 20 million of us in this country alone tuned in to watch the mens 100m final, all the world's press were there to witness possible history in the making, then BANG it was on! Bolt won in a new Olympic record time of 9.63 and he touched 27.3 miles per hour during last nights historic race which is just under the legal road speed limit in this country and all you can do is concentrate on 'the preening dicks'! Stadtler or Waldorf... which one are you?

What is it you've got against spinters? Has a muscle-bound, super-fit sprinter boned your missus in the past or something? You sound like a lights off and socks on kind of guy and your hatred of the sprinters pre-race antics is disturbing?

Anyway, I'll ask you again;

1, After scoring the winner, should Aguero have just walked over to his team mates and shook their hands?

2, Were you willing the ref to send him off for taking his shirt off and daring to flash is honed torso in public?

3, After Aguero scored the winner against QPR, would you have prefered it if the fans stopped munching their cucumber and water cress sandwiches, said hurrah and gave a polite round of applause?

4, Should we bin Balotelli, because his antics are just not British enough for you?

Would this be more acceptable to you?

You sound like a little Englander to me, but I'm glad that most people are sensible enough to realise that people who share my view on last nights men's 100m final are more prevalent in numbers than the misery-guts like of you!

Again mate, you need to take a chill pill and wind your neck in and find something more important to get revved up about!! Lol :-)
