No there's only one agenda in the media and that's to sell papers and advertising. It's not that they're necessarily fans of the clubs it's that they know the headlines that sell and get viewers and clicks. It's more of a bias and a very obvious one.
I remember watching a match of the day recently and they quite fairly showed the rags being poor against a 10 man Villa. The comments reflected the match but then they showed the back pages of tabloids and they're covered with close ups of a roaring Falcao with headlines such as Falcao leads fightback. It's complete tosh but the money is in please the larger crowds. I don't think there's a conspiracy it's just simple economics.

My opinion as well.

For some reason we think that newspapers and media generally should just tell the news as it is with absolutely no spin on it.
Newspaper owners are only interested in profits and their editors / reporters had better be aware of that so alienating its largest customer base with unbiased reporting may not be the wisest career move for an aspiring reporter.

Unfortunately there are more of them (non City supporters) than us at the moment so things are unlikely to change in the near future.

Of course there is an agenda (to maximise profits) and a bias (to pander to most of your customers), this applies to every sector of industry and is not unique to the media.
Your argument is based on sophistry
There are more non city supporting readers, of that there is no doubt
But a lot of neutrals support English teams when they play in the CL as they are 'English', of which one will be City. So why would the papers run with the tag line that Silva didn't celebrate Nasri's goal in Rome, when the only people who would be pleased to read it would be bitter sad c**ts, which isn't there largest market?
Whilst it was a pathetic and incorrect jibe it certainly makes me feel there is something more pernicious than pandering to the rag masses.
Globally our rival's fans - dippers, gooners, rags ,chavs - will be their biggest market.
As for other fans , at best they will be neutral to the reporting of the Silva / Nasri incident and at worst pleased to read it.
The commercial agenda is alive and well!

A little over a month ago Chelsea were 8 points clear, already being called champions and hailed as one of the best premier league teams ever.

As it stands, they are literally neck and neck with us.

Now called me cynical but if the shoe was one the other foot and we'd lost an 8 point lead, I'd be very surprised if the headlines weren't "City Meltdown", "City Title Collapse", "City in freefall, No Leaders, No Passion", etc., etc.

As it is, not a peep from Englands esteemed football journalists.

Thats before if even start on the van gaal fawning and the complete absence of any mention of the amount of money they've spent. You don't see the likes of Sky doing team cost comparisons when they're involved.

Top post.

Be interesting how the blind answer this one.

Absolutely spot on.............................and it is about time we got used to this !
We are now the team to knock down at any opportunity, as we have had the audacity to break into the "old regime "
Eventually all the media will wake up and smell the coffee, and realise that even with the money input, City have come from relative obscurity to become a Power House in such a short time.
I have followed City since the old Second Division days, through all the yo-yo years, and still pinch myself when I see just how far we have come.......................so so proud of my beloved City.

On the downside, we don't get the rich coverage we would like to read about.

On the upside, their constant beating of us with a stick (especially Sky's CL coverage) shows we truly have arrived at the top table. They used to beat us up at not making the top 4, however when was the last time you heard ANY journo suggest we won't make top 4??

#We've come a long long way together,
Through the hard times and the good,#

It tears them all up inside to see how quickly and comprehensively we have usurped them and in the manner in which we have done it - the antithesis of the "United way".
"The agenda" is a direct result of their hurt. The more success we have the more they will try to sideline us.
We have overtaken them on the pitch and will soon do so off it. They lorded it over us for years and now we are showing them just how totally hollow their success was - that little old city can come along and topple them within a few years. No wonder their friends in the media try to ignore us, the truth is too painful for them to contemplate.

Most likely they'll post some link of a rare favourable article; and call everybody else paranoid, deluded, conspirocrat, tinfoil mad hat wearer, and so, while giving praise to the perfection of the balanced non biased and utterly fair english media

After 20 games of the Premier League season, things could not be tighter at the top of the table.

After the dramatic games on New Year's Day – which saw Chelsea defeated 5-3 at London rivals Tottenham and Manchester United scramble a late 3-2 win over Sunderland – the two title rivals are neck and neck at the league summit.

The comments below are pretty scathing.

The thing is we have done it the "utd way" - I.e. by spending a lot of money - the utd PR department and their friends in the media have created this myth.

The media will never be fair. They are in a very competitive sector where circulation is king.
They will use every trick in the book to boost the reader / viewer interest the sport pages are just like their other so called news pages.
It is still true that their proud way of doing business is to never let the truth get in the way of a good story .
