What's better than Bonny night when you can dress a rag filled dummy up as a would be regicide and demand cash from the passing populace in the street? Several years ago, I fixed a notice saying "Please to NOT knock or ring the doorbell as there is a baby asleep upstairs"

This worked fine for several hours until some smart Alec pointed out I lived in a bungalow.....

I find they generally go away after you give them a pack of sweets from the tub :)

I just went to the pub after work and do so every trick or treat night.
Living in a cul de sac, its just too busy. After a days work you just want to chill out and your door going every 10 minutes winds you up eventually so I now prefer being out rather than seem pissed off to kids.
Its also the older teenagers who make no effort to dress up and still knock on your door that annoyed me. Basic pure begging, that's all it is. Also remember having an argument the other year with some parents the other year, it was gone 9.30pm and I had this group of what must have been 6-7 year old knock with the parents at the end of the driveway and I told them in no uncertain terms that it was late to be knocking.

But as others have said, its the fking fireworks that does my head in. Just ban the fuckers and have council run events only. Last year my neighbours were letting off fireworks. next morning I picked up all the crap that had landed in my garden and threw it over their fence
