Well I've made the point many times before that we should already have a good idea which kids could also be added to that equation, but the bloke we had previously had no interest in developing the club.

But imo our squad was much stronger to start with, than it appeared under that waster, & now with the new signings we already have, plus the great likelihood of several more, it looks a hell of a squad to me.

I think our problem is the Euros & the Copa. If it wasn't for that, I'd expect Pep to have us off to a flyer. But I expect fireworks & an exciting, competitive season, whether we win it or not.

The fullback positions are my biggest concern. Usually his are much better going forward, & crucial to his systems. But would anyone be surprised if he pulled two rabbits out of the hat from our current squad, who turned out to be superb at it ?

We will get a clearer picture about how much was a problem of the guy in charge and how much was down to the players this season. My concerns of mental fortitude go back to Mancini's days though.

I will be very interested to see if our players can move the ball more quickly whilst actually improving their pass completion stats.

I am not absolving the players of their responsibilities. But we could say the same about the players in the other top 6 clubs also. None havd turned it on every season.

Man for man, I wouldn't have swapped our squad for any of the other squads, since our first title win. And imo it should have been about 5/6 players stronger last season by use of kids to fill in.

Now we have new players, kids a year older & Pep Guardiola.

It's not a bad start imo.

No it's obviously not a bad start but we can (afford to) improve the squad and make it more fit for Pep's purposes so to not do so would be negligent. However, until the window shuts or City "formally" declare their business is done for this window, can't opine on the final squad for the start of the season.

If we started the season with this squad I would be worried too even though I believe Pep is the best manager in the world.

Wonder if all those posters who were insisting we would have walked the league last season if pep were in charge concur

Bringing players through or actually improving or rehabilitating players we actually have, or building a side over more than one season, has become some kind of ridiculous notion, rather than being the traditional way most top managers actually do it.

We expect to buy a largely new team every year, yet when we actually look at the City side, it's mostly the players who the team was built around in the first place, who learned to play together, who are actually still the people we rely on. Some of them signed for not much money.

If Pep can't improve the players, or bring players through, we have completely wasted 3 years waiting for him. And if we can't give him a season to suss his players out & rebuild the squad, without shitting our pants, we don't deserve him.
