The German World Cup winning midfielder who Bayern couldn't keep despite their best efforts as he went to Real Madrid to be a key player for them?
Bayern actually let him go pretty happily because he was demanding wages that they had no interest in paying him. They made a mistake of giving the golden boy Gotze huge wages when they signed him for a record fee, and Kroos demanded parity.

left back and centre mid would do nicely. gaya or rodriguez for left back or kroos or rakitic for centre mid.

I think pep is happy with he's fullbacks for.this.season I would love another quality center.mid just for strength in depth but id imagine that will only happen if we are able to get rid ov yaya me personqlly would wait a year get rid of yaya and delph and break the bank for deli ali.

The Bayern manager was Pep. I'm certain he and the club wanted to keep him but Guardiola doesn't deal with contracts and the people that do weren't willing to pay what he was demanding.Really. So the Bayern manager at the time did not want to keep him?

He atleast did not fight for him so much that Bayern really tried to keep him. Pep for sure would have liked to keep him in the team - but I think that he understood the reasons why Bayern acted like they did. For Rummenigge and Hoeneß Kroos did not develop like they wanted it - not that it would grant him to be one of the top earners in the team. He was not a difference maker, not a fan favourite, not a leader - nothing that would put him up high in the pyramid. In difference to the other homegrown players he was not even a fan favourite of the local fans or the teenies. If you usually have a young homegrown player in the team you have the kids all wearing the number. But - it is Bavaria - if you loose the ball people expect you to run and not to do ball watching - and instead of self praising interviews people like you to be humble and an absolute team player. He was a nobody in the dressing room - not a leader that you expect him to be for his position on the pitch - not the midfield general that would bleed and fight like e.g. a Vidal is.
In my eyes Kroos did a development at Real he did not do at Bayern. At Bayern he still told that his favourite role is the ten - even if he lacks the dynamism to be one in 2016. Defensive work was for the others.
You might have remarked something - I did not really talk about his qualities. For me in the right setup he is a world class player - but even Real with him does not have the right setup because it lacks in offensive power when Modric and he play with a 6 - and lacks defense when he and Modric play together with a 10.

Bayern chose to sell him rather than improve his contract for €25 mill. I can't see it happening simply because Kroos is the best centre mid in world football so who do they replace him with?
