Yep, I'm gonna try, can't wait!

Prediction Danny?

I reckon England will win it 3-0 or 2-1, I think for once we actually go in as favourites away from home? Not checked odds but should imagine we are.

I think Cook and Strauss are key to the batting, if they get us off to a flyer, we have plenty of depth down the order to cause some real damage.

I'm not sure I can make a prediction because I haven't really seen Australia play with my own eyes. I've read all kinds of stuff about how they're struggling but until I see it for myself I just can't believe it, it's Australia after all. That said I reckon we're good enough to beat almost anyone on our day and we seem to have an air of confidence that in my 10 years of following the cricket (I came to the sport late) we've never had before. I just hope it's a good series and anything else will be a bonus.

All together now; Peter Siddle shops at Lidl...
We're shit, and made worse by the fact our idiot selectors continually pick numpties (Siddle/Hussey/North). England will at worst draw to retain the Ashes.

Reality has set in for me and the fact that Australia don't lose at home very often. Think it will be an extremely close series and I agree that the Gabba is crucial if we avoid defeat then it's on, I reckon it will be 2-1 England and will go all the way to Sydney where Swann will retain us the Ashes.

Unfortunately my Ashes training schedule hasn't gone accordingly to plan. Tonight will be tough but England expects! So I will get home from work tonight about 9pm and stay up all night and return to work at 8am tomorrow. The Ashes is worth it.

Cant belive the Aussies have picked Xavier Doherty
Smacks of desperation. Hes only in because hes a slow left-arm and Pietersen struggles against them, his average is a rubbish 48!!
I would of picked Smith
3-1 England im going AND i will be up tonight as well!

Come on England. KP could be our leading run scorer back on the kind of surface he relishes but I fancy Bell with the form he's in.

I tell you what is like printing money though; Swann an Johnson to be their country's leading wicket takers, the double is better than 6/1 with Bet365 and I'm on big! If they both play all 5 games then I can't really see any way that they won't be unless Broad or Anderson have a magical series.

Aussie bowling is not looking good, Siddle and Doherty in a 4 man attack? If England don't win this series they'll kick themselves.

I don't see Swann taking that many in Aus. It just doesn't happen for Offies down there.

3 - 1 England.

Perth will be a draw and they'll probably win at MCG (with it being the world famous "Boxing Day Test" and our lads will be hungover)

Alistair Cook - top run scorer.

It's a big series for Monty - hopefully he'll do well if he gets a chance.

Winning the first test at the Gabba is enough to really pile it on Ponting. Tall order but 3-1 if we do. I think Johnson has a score to settle and if he gets going he won't be stopped. Crucial as a talisman for them.
Strauss will need everything he's got mentally and with the bat he can inspire. It's about time for Cook to turn it on. I hope KP comes through but can't see it happening.
Bowlers are taking wickets now and nicely tuned after a few extra days in Brisbane.
All on the first toss for Ashes glory.

God save YOUR gracious Queen.

Come on England

Phil Edmonds and John Emburey were fundamental in helping England the last time we won The Ashes in Australia back in 86/87.
I'm not 100% but I'm sure they took quite a few wickets between them during that series. I know they stifled the Aussie attack once the 'quicks' had finished their spells.
Hopefully Swann (and Monty) can do the same ?
