well we drew with the Saffas on their own patch so I think the top 3 sides are very close in tests.

I fancy Australia to win the one-day series though.

...based on what?
None of their batsmen are in any kind of form, their bowlers have trouble keeping it on the square, and their fielding is abysmal.
Couple this with rock-bottom morale, and a new captain finding his feet, and I can't see anything other than another England victory, personally.

Their sloggers are better than their test team though. I'm still expecting an Egnland victory, it'll be closer though.

What do you call an Aussie with a bottle of champagne? A waiter.

because Watson's 40's and 50's will be much more valuable, and they have some good hitters who can get them quick runs, also the white ball will not do as much as the test ball so the bowling will become more even.

I just fancy a bounce back from the Aussies, we'll see, it'll be interesting.

The phone rings in the Australian Cricket Team's changing room.
"G'day. Could I speak to Ricky Ponting, please?"
"Aww, look, sorry mate, he's just gone out to bat."
"Oh, that's alright, mate. I'll hang on."

Can't see it, Australia's ODI record of late has been terrible and their confidence is shot to bits.

Great effort by England all series, well done to every one of them. It may not be the great Aussie side of the last decade but to so comprehensively outplay guys like Ponting, Clarke, Hussey and Haddin is a fine achievement. It's funny how in the build up all the talk was of Swann and the lack of a top Aussie spinner, yet in preparing pitches to negate the effect of spin they played right into our seam attacks hand. To expect the same Anderson of 4 years ago to turn up was extremely naive although I think the impact Tremlett and Bresnan had caught everyone by surprise.

Nice way for Collingwood to bow out. He may have struggled with the bat but he really set the example in the field, I think he'll be a big loss to the dressing room.

It could be a tough time ahead for Australia, they’ve used so many players over the last couple of years in all forms of the game but I don’t see many who look like they have the skills for test cricket, certainly not amongst the batsmen. Warner, Hughes, Henriques and co might be exciting in T20 but the technique of a lot of these guys is very questionable.

Oh and JMW it turns out Johnson’s spell in Perth was a flash in the pan after all, remember now optimism is the way forward! ;-)

i can't remember Perth lol.

Well we don't have Cook, Prior or Anderson for the 20/20s and Jimmy will miss some 1 dayers(cook and prior at all).

My one-day teams(without being able to find an actual squad list) would be:

ODI: Strauss(c), Davies(wk), Trott, KP, Collingwood, Bell, Wright, Bresnan, Swann, Anderson(Shahzhad while Jimmy is away), Tremlett.

20/20: Denly, Davies(wk), Bopara, KP, Collingwood(c), Bell, Wright, Bresnan, Swann, Shahzhad, Tremlett.

don't know enough about the Aussie all rounders but I'd bring it Marsh, White, Lee/Tait if they're fit, David Hussey, Ferguson and pick the best of the all rounders and drop Hughes, Clarke(quit 20/20s anyway), Smith, Beer, Hilfenhaus, maybe Mitchell Johnson too.

Think you'll be pretty much spot on with both xi's there JMW unless Australia really decide to throw in the youngsters. I think they'll stick with Smith though.

Maybe, I reckon Morgan will come in for Trott or Bell actually, even though I think both did really well in the tests and especially in 50 overs you need somebody who can hit a boundary every over but stay in for 20/30 overs, Colly can't be relied on and KP will just go berserk. Says a lot though that there is such a selection dilemma lol.

The Aussie 20/20 squad is this:

Cameron White (c), Tim Paine (wk & vc), Aaron Finch, David Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Stephen O'Keefe, James Pattinson, Steve Smith, Shaun Tait, David Warner, Shane Watson.

So I would pick:

Watson, Warner, Finch, Hussey, White(c), Paine(wk), Smith, Johnson, Lee, Pattinson, Tait.

So you'd leave out O'Keefe who's a specialist spinner but not good with the bat.
