True, but I didn’t think they’d still be doing it 18 months down the line.
I would imagine pumping up the subscription numbers would be #1 priority before a takeover like this.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they dropped the promotions quickly.

Isn’t it a business plan to get as many subscribers as possible to eventually sell up like they doing now?
550m for a digital news/sport platform!? Where do they get that number from? Are they thinking 1m subscribers oh we could charge say a fiver a month or something! They thinking that’s around 60m a year but the debt repayments will be a lot lower so they making money from it?

Yeah, presumably NYT will want a bit more return on its investment. Fine balancing act though, as I suspect the number of subscribers will plummet if they stop the promotions.I would imagine pumping up the subscription numbers would be #1 priority before a takeover like this.

Probably fearing for his future. NYT are about to acquire a shitload of English based sports writers, so he might find himself surplus to requirements in the not too distant future.Haha I bet he's absolutely livid with that snippet.
Maybe his constantly digs at City aren't being considered as sports journalism?
