The battle for 3rd place

I think we'll ultimately swat them away, like we've done for four of the last five years. We were here last season - and the one before it. Recent history supports my analysis. It seems that some blues are more consumed by more ancient, less relevant history, possibly because it feels more familiar and in-tune with what they understand the equilibrium of supporting this club to be.

Last season was extremely close, to be fair, and we only prevailed on goal difference. I agree with you, and think we will ultimately finish above them again this season, but I don't think it's unjustified for people to be concerned. It's not a given.

The biggest test for Pep is whether or not he can inspire and motivate a group of players to give their very best despite knowing they will be gone in the summer.

I think the instruction should be if you're in a position to score do it yourself. However, if someone's in a clearly, and I mean clearly better position, pass it on. Shooting causes a defence to panic as well as leave their marks. The team have been profligate in front of goal. Despite the defensive frailties City is still in the top 4. If they can put away their chances anything is possible.

People aren't really optimistic about the Chelsea game. However, City played better for about an hour in the first game. However, missed chances, bad ref calls, and Chelsea's finishing decided it. 6 points isn't impossible and 4 would be ideal. I say they should throw caution to the wind and go for it. G.Jesus was a catalyst for the team when he came into the side. Playing without fear. Now is the time for the players to step up and take the games by the scruff of the neck. I'm pragmatic and realistic. The script may not be written the way we want. Nonetheless, anything is possible in football. How nice would it be to come from behind and steal the trophy? Wishful thinking I know but one can dream.

I won a lot of money the night City only managed to scrape a 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland.

Nasri missed that late chance but I just knew there was more twists in the tale and we could still win the title.

We fail to win tomorrow and top four is still a major issue, that's how crazy and fine the margins are right now.

Chelsea will be praying for an Arsenal win and some breathing space before they face us.

As of next Saturday night, the gap could be three points with eight games left - that's more than a chance...

I realise it has no impact in reality but I would prefer not to see any positive predictions from you about results. I'll count your latest comments as more of the what could happen variety.

Not worried about top 4 tbh, arsenal look done, the rags are dropping like flies now as Maureen's failure to rotate comes back to haunt him and the dippers have lots of the games against smaller teams that they usually slip up in (see what I did there). Would be very nice to catch Spurs as I don't want to finish below them 2 seasons on the trot after 5 seasons in a row ahead of them.

Chelsea? Unlikely, but keep winning games and we'll see what happens, they're due some bad luck.

My hope is that we can ride the chaos at the Emirates to a quick 3 points. I don't have Arsenal TV. Would it be amiss for me to assume that their fans can be demonstrative?

Yep. As soon as we sign a load more players so we have pretty much the best players in every position in the team compared to others in the league then we will be able to see what a good manager he is.......
You need to read it again and see what it actually says, obout improving the players he has, and getting the best from them, but some are coming to the end and will be replaced by players identified suited to his ideals.

If we go all Monaco away it may well happen

We have to be far more pragmatic in our approach in these next two games. They are must not lose, rather than must win
Christ on a stick. It was that idea that fucked us in Monaco. Have you read no interviews since then? The players didn't play their normal game. The game they were told to go out and play and then didn't do anything.

we didn't get a kick in Monaco for an hour, we didn't play at all.

I want us to obliterate everyone we play to the point they have no hope in their existence and just give up completely the minute they see us walk off the coach, so for me I want us to go to bully and destroy, show who's boss and stick 2 fingers up to the authorities in the process.

We need to get the chip on our shoulder back and not rest till we have all the trophies, that the authorities are so determined to prevent us winning, in our trophy cabinet year-after-year.

So I want us to play the way we should have in Monaco and absolutely annihilate Arsenal today, to the point where no-one can even begin to describe what happened.

If we cant tighten up at the back then possibly. They have played some awful football under Mouriniho and yet they are only 4 pts off us. The powers that be want them in the top four. We need to be careful.
Tightening up at the back like six clean sheets away in a row?

This - Show up today and thrash them so bad that Conte and Chelski have three sleepless nights dreading us.
