The battle for 3rd place

This isn't your kiss of death at work again is it Tolmie?

I won a lot of money the night City only managed to scrape a 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland.

Nasri missed that late chance but I just knew there was more twists in the tale and we could still win the title.

We fail to win tomorrow and top four is still a major issue, that's how crazy and fine the margins are right now.

Chelsea will be praying for an Arsenal win and some breathing space before they face us.

As of next Saturday night, the gap could be three points with eight games left - that's more than a chance...

Didnt win any money but I remember buying my tickets for QPR the Monday after the Arsenal defeat. By the time QPR came round who knows what they would have been worth. For some reason I think there are a few surprises to come yet and we still have players around who have done it before.

Anything can happen but Manure have a tough run in and injuries starting to pile up relying on a 35 year old to keep them in the hunt.

If they don't beat Everton then I think its over for them as far as top four goes.

It's then down to three sides if we lose to Arsenal fighting for two spots.

Beat Arsenal and I cannot see them catching us so the top four starts to take some shape.

I think Spurs are good things for a top four finish now.

Today was massive for them.

The rags have Everton mid week and Sunderland next Saturday

We have Arsenal and Chelsea away, followed by Hull next Sat

The rags are currently on equal games and four points behind us

By next Saturday evening the rags may only be one point behind us with a game in hand

Shaking in my boots

Why settle for a point against a team that is struggling? arsenal are there for the taking, FFS! Why are we so happy to play safe? It is time the players stepped up and took their chances, just look at Liverpool, Stoke, Spurs, all games we drew and should have won. If we had taken just one chance in each of those games, we would be almost neck and neck. If you don't believe, you don't get. I say throw everything at the rest of the season, we have the talent, and only maxi two more FA Cup games as distraction, come on City, we have done it before, and no shame in giving it a go and just missing out.

I want to win every match. I'm just saying a point is a good result as far as CL qualification goes.

We've won once at Arsenal in the league in over 20 years.

You've got a fucking nerve commenting on anyone else's powers of prescience when it comes to the subject matter of this thread.

Still think we'll finish sixth?

My heart says we will win the title my head says 6th is still well and truly on.

Next two games will tell a lot I suppose stating the obvious.

It was only a friendly dig at Tolmie observing his thoughts on the last two games I noticed he said what he believed might happen with us including Sunderland away most recently.

For all I know his track record might be good but I don't look at all his posts in this regard.

I hope he goes for us to win tomorrow or thinks we will lose and we win and we do them big time Gordon as you can get good odds on us winning.

You take some people a bit too seriously Gordon but I like you anyway but not sure yet why.

Sixth? Seriously mate that's a ridiculous thing to think. If that happened it would be a disaster and from viewing our performances this year there is nothing to suggest that would happen.

It's a mentality thing. As fans we should have a bit more faith in the side

Its pessimistic I know but its a possibility as is finishing first or second or third or fourth or fifth.

I was pleased with the effort against Liverpool especially after the result in France but we just don't seem to getting the rub of the green and missing too many chances to score and the next two matches are going to be the two toughest away games of the season on the bounce.

Nothing is a given and we know we have a number of players who will play a large part in the remaining 10 games who won't be playing Chumps League next season for us should we secure it so the mentality of the squad will really be put to the test.

Yep like when we won it from 8 points behind I kept believing we still had a chance of winning the title it ain't over till its over.

I've said it a few times in the last few weeks it just doesn't feel over.

Something about the way people in he media don't even caveat saying Chelsea have won anymore just feels really off. They aren't that good, they've had a bunch of lucky or last minute results. There's still life in it yet.

If they lose to us on Wednesday I think they'll be quite shaken. Spurs being 5 points behind them and suddenly they might panic.

I suppose we may look silly if we are 15 points behind them on Thursday but I'd rather live in hope and look occasionally silly than be a pessimist!

I'd say we're 2x more likely to win the league than finish 6th.

We have not been taking our chances (which I admit is a problem) all season and yet we are still in the top four with games in hand.

Football is a funny old game and with Chelsea losing today it would not surprise me at all if they lost two on the bounce. It's a great time to play them.

Fair play to you mate if I thought we were going to finish sixth I would be gutted right now. People say I'm pessimistic but you take it to a whole new level

It's a strange things is this, but I do not feel any more confident that we will finish top four than this time last year. Maybe this could be due to the bad press we get, even so disappointing isn't it.

Take a look at their last 8 games and our last 8 games

Unless they come and win at our place they're not getting near us whatever happens in our next 2 matches

we beat the tarquins and it is a massive statement ,we will be ten points clear of them and the Rags will also be seven points adrift and they have to come to our place for their good hiding , top four is in the bag . Would like us to beat the Chavs next week and then if they lose at the swamp it would make things interesting
