The battle for 3rd place

Not sure about this, if we play the same formation we will struggle away with a lack of bite in midfield. Shame we watched the chance for 4 or 5 and ended up conceding, but I suppose Mel Machin was manager the last time they beat us and we have had some luck there this century in all 3 games.

Cricket here we come (and baseball), Lanky and the NY Mets. After City win 4-1 on Sunday.

We will win against Watford, finish 3rd and not have to play a qualifier in August.

Enjoy summer.
I thought they'd scrapped the qualifier for 4th place starting next season? Is it to do with the Rags having a chance of taking a spot if they win the Europa? We still want to finish above gobby Klopp and his merry men, somebody please make a banner saying "Hey Klopp we finish above you again yaa... Boom!".

We really need to avoid that 4th spot.

As good a performance Bucharest away was last year those two weeks cost Guardiola valuable time on the training pitch, which with a good few new faces coming in this summer he will need.

Is there still a qualifier for 4th spot, thought that was not the case this year.

I think we'll take 3rd and I think I'd rather Arsenal take 4th place from under Liverpool than have BT fawn all over magical nights at Anfield in Europe. :)

What happens if we draw 3-3 and Liverpool win 3-0. Is it a play off for 3rd spot or does it go on head to head results?
Also but very unlikely to happen Liverpool lose 2-0 to Boro and Arsenal draw 1-1 and they are tied. That must be a play off surely?

Play off yeah

The great thing about football is not to discount anything happening. If 1 of the teams scores early the tension in the other ground will heighten. This is why we love football, that tension creates stress, stress then relieved if the ball hits the net. Then Joy! haha

We are 1/500 Now to finish top 4.

Those seem remarkably short odds. Say after 75 mins we're 0-0 against a Watford team wanting to finish on a high note in front of their fans. Arsenal are two up against an Everton team on the beach, Liverpool coasting. We've fallen into that trap of not knowing whether to press for a goal or defend for a point. Then concede a sloppy goal. Arsenal spurred on by that news score two late goals.

Unlikely? Very. But is it a 1 in 500 scenario?

As long as one of our defenders isn't time wasting when we actually need to score. And I don't wanna see Wenger or Klopp doing a David Pleat.

Possible scenarios:
3rd place
* 3 points secure 3rd no matter what Liverpool do
* A draw would secure top 3 if Liverpool failed to win by at least 3
* A defeat could still see us third if Liverpool failed to win and arsernal couldn't overcome the goal difference swing of 5
4th Place
* Liverpool must win to overtake us, a draw might not be enough to finish 3rd if Liverpool win by at least 3 goals
* A defeat, Liverpool failing to win and arsenal overcoming a 5 goal swing would see Arsenal finish 3rd and us finish 4th
5th
* The only way we now finish 5th is with a defeat, a Liverpool win and arsernal overcoming a 5 goal swing would see us finish 5th
