The Beatles

I like the Beatles as a whole but I absolutely love George Harrison's songs (both when he was in the Beatles and solo etc) than all the others. I feel sorry for him, he was clearly talented but was pushed into the background because of McCartney and Lennon's huge egos.

Think For Yourself, Taxman, Within you Without you, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something, Here Comes the Sun = amazing

I love Georges songs too (have you seen the Concert For George dvd?) but I tend to think that in the early days he wasnt a songwriter, if he was they would have put less cover songs on the albums that L & M couldnt fill with originals, but being around 2 of the best brought out the creative side of him and in later years he started to get at least 2 songs on each album

Yay for the George love! I always thought he was the best out of the lot (I don't really like L+M much anyway). He was exceptionally talented but I don't think it was natural talent, I think he just kept persisting until he got good and that he grew into his own. But I've read that he used to get pissed off that L+M used to never let him write songs for the albums when it was quite clear that he was as good if not better than them.

IMO he was the most talented and he seemed a really cool guy. He helped get Life of Brian made so that just makes him amazing in it's own right. I've heard that he's meant to be in the movie, random question but does anyone know what scene?

As a reward for his help, Harrison appears in a cameo appearance as Mr. Papadopoulos, "owner of the Mount", who briefly shakes hands with Brian in a crowd scene. His one word of dialogue (a cheery Scouse, but out-of-place-in-Judea, "ullo").... don't know if its on you tube.

george harrison can be found

Absolutely brilliant.

They had a few average songs obviously, but so what, which band doesn't have it's "fillers".

What they achieved was unbelievable. Revolutionists of popular culture. And some fantastic music. As far as music production goes as well, they really set the standard. And something else which is great about them is that they had a wide range of songs - off the top of my head; I wanna hold your hand, Eleanor Rigby, Come Together are all completely different songs, but all SO Beatles at the same time. - Any band that can do that have something special.

Like everything else in popular culture the Beatles have become old fashioned and dated. They became famous 47 years ago in 1963.

47 years before 1963 was 1916.

What were the hot hits of 1916?

Beatles best selling and most influential band ever. Their remastered albums have sold in their millions since 2009, testimony to the fact that their music hasn't dated.

I like the Smiths but a four piece band using a Rickenbacker and a harmonica was done erm back in the 1960's by bands like the Beatles. No comparison.

one of the reasons i love the white album, nearly every genre of music is covered on that one album
