like above, he's not bent in any way it takes a clever person to be corrupt, hes just a very bad ref who will not make the grade and will end up in charge of championship games

I don't buy that Marco. Bad refs get decisions wrong for both teams in equal measure. And of course sprinkle in a bit of good or bad luck and one team may get a slightly better rub of the green.

But yesterday was not that. The ref *consistently* awarded against us. Any incident where it was 50-50 resulted in a foul against us, whilst lots of stuff from Wolves went unpunished. Whether it's corruption, or that he "just" has an agenda against us, I don't know. But yesterday was not just incompetent refereeing.

I am just completely speechless after that performance by the ref. We still managed to overcome it though.

So we win 3-1 and we've got fans writing off to the FA complaining about the ref? We are turning into the rags.

He was shocking, but we've had worse and we will have worse in the future.

No, we haven't had anybody worse. That is the whole point.

Shocking - Yes

Bent - No, clearly it was Stuart Attwell, Darren Bent was at Sunderland playing for Villa

Corrupt? Strong words borne out of frustration but not so. Just a bad performance in my view, in fact a very bad refereeing performance but corrupt no. Though if we were to ask Wanderers fans I'm sure they would say he was okay. That's football, a polarity of opinions. We won, we should just move on.

Last season we got a penalty against Newcastle that was outside the box, yesterday we were on the wrong end of many decisions. Next week we may benefit from the referees decisions. Doesn't make it right, but I don't think it makes it corrupt either.

Spot on. Atwell was just poor all round. He was just as bad for Wolves in truth.
On another day Silva could (should in my opinion) have been booked for blatant dives in the first half. Dzeko's fouls also went unpunished when he could in reality have been booked on two occasions before he was.

shit ref caused quite a few outbursts from me today, my apologies to the little girl sat in front who visibly jumped more than once when i vented my spleen, i didnt swear though, family stand and all that.

funny how david platt is telling them off, and some beeps in it also in tunnel cam.

good job david

And for the record mario did make a back for the defender on the challenge some are berating.

So Mario had someone jumping on his back, and he is expected to just stay upright and allow it? Surely it is a foul against him if the other player has jumped into him.

I've always thought it weird that they don't have to express a preference. Presumably, a lot of them are fans.

This season i'll agree. But last season we had worse. You must never have been at Maine Road when Joe Worral was the ref - you know the bloke from Warrington who used to train at The Cliff?

Short memories on here at times.

Have you seen replays of Silva's 'dives' and are you sure he wasn't fouled on either occasion?

I agree about Dzeko that he could have been booked sooner, and I thought he was deliberately trying to get booked. But his frustration was clearly that he thought the decisions were not being given fairly. His blatant penalty claim for example.

Yaya could have been booked for dissent. Why wasn't he? Because Attwell knew he was frustrated and justified in his complaint having himself been fouled seconds earlier. Kompany was called over to put a stop to the dissenters.

'He was as bad for Wolves'. Then why the fouls count of 18 by City and 6 by Wolves? Were City so dirty yesterday? I don't think so. As others have said, mistakes would tend to be evenly distributed. Yesterday's performance was heavily tinged with a fairly large dose of bias. And I am a referee, and not usually inclined to criticise other referees.

Link to make a futile complaint about the cheating rag, Attwood.

"I have just returned home from the Manchester City V Wolves game - 29th October 2011. That was one of the most breathtakingly corrupt and unforgivable refereeing performances it has ever been my misfortune to witness. Stuart Atwell is a disgrace and an embarrassment. There is no earthly explanation for what took place at the Etihad today. It is time to kick out the cheat. He has brought your Association into disrepute and should never be permitted to officiate a a Manchester City game again. I strongly urge that this matter be scrutinised as a matter of urgency. Shocking.
"

Complaint sent via email, will get back if or when I hear anything

Is Attwell the worst referee in the history of the Premier League?
He may have upset Steve Bruce, Paul Jewell and Aidy Boothroyd with some inexplicable decisions, but there are other candidates for this dubious honour

Referee Stuart Attwell in clear after 'worst-ever decision'
Watford (0) 2 Reading (1) 2

Well, not ever, I've met a few bad referees in my Sunday League days, but as Premier League referees go this guy takes the biscuit.

I have no idea how this guy managed to become a Premier League referee, hes a bad advert for young referees all over the shop,he seems to have been fast tracked from the lower leagues and I don't have the faintest idea why. He clearly can't cope with the pressure and makes mistakes on a regular basis, and I mean real mistakes, not fair decisions given against top clubs which are made about to be mistakes.

Look at the "phantom goal" as its now known, I know he was directed by the linesman, but it didn't take a genius to realise the ball had gone four yards wide of the goal. No players appealed, the crowd didn't appeal, surely he should have realised that it didn't cross the line.

His last game was a disaster as well, he just lost complete control of the game, he disallowed two fair goals, by not playing the advantage and then imagining a push on a player.

Its clear this guy has just been pushed too far by the FA, he should be in League 2 now working his way up, instead of shooting straight to the top of the pile. So, is he just inexperienced, or just terrible?

As you can see (comments in the past) this guy is something else, will the FA do something about him, Na

Correct. 18 fouls by City to 6 fouls by Wolves. Anyone who thinks he was just shit and equally shit for both sides care to explain that stat? In a game that City dominated? I'm all ears. I never complain about refereeing performances but this fella yesterday was just wrong. People don't like the word 'corrupt', fair enough. I think he was, but I'll settle for 'heavily biased'. And those who think complaining about a referee when you've won is rag like, well when you've won is exactly the time to complain about a referee because it doesn't smack of sour grapes. Remember, we may get this twat again one day when we're playing a team where he will make the difference between 3 and 0 points.......

Oh no, another we-are-turning-into-rags lament.

Hey Skashion, you're welcome to have your opinion, leave me to mine and but out.
