The Bernardo Silva Chant Has Been Ruined

it was loud on ian cheeseman derby blog ???? and banter is banter ? but its not good and todays PC media police world it could become a storm in a tea cup ??

here is my shout to replace it

Running down the wing (Silva!),
Makes the blue boys sing (Silva!),
(he's going to win many things) Bernardo (Silva!),
Good effort. My last line is Silva fucked Uni-turd's ring; )

You know why it will stick?

Because a perfectly viable replacement was put forward with going on the piss or were all going wemberleeeee.

Yet everyone want to come up woth a line of their own (admittedly I did it earlier in the thread).
While everyone is being a songwriter the one singing bobby charlton all agree and are the vocal majority atm.

Just all choose one and shout down the BC bullshit.

Spot on - I’m going with “we’re all going wemberleeeee” as it’s relevant for now.

I have been watching City for years, always sing, hate the rags with a passion but detest this version of the song for a couple of reasons.

Firstly I don't want a pretty good catchy new song having any reference to the rags in any shape or form.

Secondly I just don't think singing about someone touching kids has any place anywhere, let alone amongst our great support. I cringe when I hear it it isn't funny it is embarrassing. I can't even believe people support it. Like all things like this people who sing or do it defend it with, " Ahh it's a laugh you miserable bastard, it's just a crack, lighten up, boring old fart!" Well its not and this isn't a pop at the younger support because I have seen a fair few older buggers singing it as well.

If we have to reference the rags how about " Bobby Charlton is a spiv?" It will fit in and has some truth in it I believe.

Yes, but that version will be out of date in a couple of weeks. Just go with we're all going on the piss.
No relation to David - is what I'm going to be singing. Pronounce the David in the Spanish way to sound like Madrid.

As the song had no swear words in then the kids have been able to sing it. If you add in swear words or adult themes then the kids are not going to sing it which is a shame.

Top post mate.

singing about Bobby Charlton in the City song is disrespectful to him and fucking cringeworthy. We are better supporters than that in general but we have a few knuckle draggers amongst us who like to take the piss in a disrespectful and puerile way at the rags.

Agree with most of that and I don’t want any United references in what is a fantastic chant, tasteless or otherwise.

But as for disrespecting Charlton, fuck him. That c*nt is from an era where City and United players mixed freely together, yet that twat has aimed a fair few digs at us in recent years. Whatever United fans think of Summerbee and City fans think of Crerand, neither of those have ever stooped to the level of the ticket tout.

Tbf take the berny song out of the mix and sweet shop charlton is fair game for piss taking.

Though not terrace chanting tbf.

I’ve had time to ponder everyone’s views and I think I feel more strongly than I did when I first heard it.

Let’s say the line was “John Terry hates n*****s”.

What the fuck would everyone think then?

Well I’ll tell you what I think paedophilia is worse topic to make fun of than racism! But it’s there. Stupid twats thinking it’s funny to put a line in about paedophilia... do one!

Fucking leave it out Blues!
