I don't think it's fair to include the 10's, 00's and even the 90's stuff in debates like this because it hasn't really had chance to settle down.

The Velvet Underground, for example, were unheard of until 1975 but are now a highly influential art rock band with t-shirts, albums and singles selling even today.

Give something time before you slag it off.

Bloody good answer mate.

Also, to dismiss all this new fangled electronicky beepy beepy stuff the kids on the street are into is a bit short-sighted, if they like it, then it's doing it's job just the same as some dusty old Pink Floyd bore fest.

Smiley face.

The 70's.

Drop some ecstasy and drink 5 beers and I'm John fucking Travolta.

Where the fuck could you get ecstacy in Britain in the 70's?
I first encountered it in the mid 80's, and it was as rare as rocking horse shit then.

70's music Fetlocks. Put the Bee Gees on when I'm high as a kite and l'm good to go.

Only born in 78. Plus I love late 80's dance music and a claim to fame is my uncle was in the states and spotted house music was going to be fucking tip top. Aceeeeeed.

My bad mate - after double dropping I thought I could dance like my namesake, even though I looked like an explosion in a prosthetic limb factory.
Happy days - I wish I could remember them.

It is a bloody good answer, and I share your sentiments as well.

I somehow doubt that Damocles and Nijinsky will have anything to say about it, though.

Since 1985 and the first rumblings of chigago house in this country the dance scene is still going so to speak..although not at its heights of the Nineties..

you forgot the most important genre mate - Progressive Rock - 70's

which adds more to my argument about each decade being special for everyone..
