La Liga is the SPL with class.
The Budesliga is a competitive PL.
The PL is crash, bang, wallop with bits of football thrown in.
Serie A is drwing in corruption.
The French league is terrible.

So for me.

Bundesliga
PL
La Liga
Serie A
La French League.
What do you mean by that?

Erm, 2 very good teams blowing away 4 good teams and 10 reasonable teams and 4 shit teams, as opposed to 2 shit teams blowing away 12 dire teams.

You cannot tell me that a league that has two teams that finish 28 and 25 points ahead of third, is competitive or even flawed. We know its flawed due to the imbalance of TV money, but that doesn't absolve of being flawed.

In contrast City finished 19 points behind Chelsea and we finished fifth. Everton in 8th finished 25 behind Chelsea.

In Germany 24 points separated the top 10.

It is an uncompetitive league, but there are very good players and therefore, its a class SPL.

If KentheLandlord was saying La Liga is the SPL with class as he claims only 2 teams ever challenge for the title - which I'm guessing he is - then let's look at the stats.

Only 3 teams have won the PL in the last 10 years - the Rags, Chelsea and Arsenal. With 20 teams in the league that means 15% of the teams have won it.

La Liga is exactly the same. Valencia, Barca and Real have all won the league in the last 10 years. Again there are 20 teams in the league so 15% have won it.

The SPL has had 2 winners in the last 10 years. With 10 teams it that means that 20% have won the league so technically the SPL is the most competitive league out of the 3.

Maths can't be wrong. lol

Its more than that - though - i read somewhere that the TV deals for both Barca and Real are in excess of 100 Million plus where as Valencia is about 20 Million (all TV contracts are negogiated individually.)

The 3rd placed team fininsh some 30 points off the 2nd placed team in La Liga last season - tends to be much tighter spread in the prem - what you are saying is partially true BUT only Barcaor Real can win La Liga - here its Rags - Arse and Chelski hopefully us soon and Murderpool came close not so long ago.

Gootball is about aspirations traditionally there has been 4 clubs whose fans feel that they can battle for the title and woth us and Spuds in the mix in a few years time i hope we feel the same - i seriously doubt any supporter outside Barca or Real considers their team can win it.

Have a look at the difference between 3rd in la liga last season and 2nd... 25 points. (10 in premier league)

Between 2nd and 4th it was 33 points...(15 in premier league)

the best 2 teams come from spain, the most competitive league is germany.

When did Real Madrid become the second best team in the world?

That is a very fair point.

They will be back, because the guy who knocked Barca off their perch is there.

Real have, by their standards been miserable for the last 5 years, but i reckon they will be up and running again this season. Barca will be there or thereabouts.

UEFA have this as their list

1 Manchester United England
2 Barcelona Spain
3 Chelsea England
4 Liverpool England
5 Bayern Munich
6 Arsenal England
7 Werder Bremen
8 Internazionale Italy
9 Sevilla Spain
10 Milan Italy
11 Lyon France
12 Real Madrid Spain
13 Hamburg Germany
14 Porto Portugal
15 Roma Italy
16 Valencia Spain
17 Shakhtar Donetsk Ukraine
18 Bordeaux France
19 Atlético Madrid Spain
20 Benfica Portugal
21 Fiorentina Italy
22 CSKA Moscow Russia
23 Tottenham Hotspur England
24 Sporting CP Portugal
25 PSV Eindhoven Netherlands

Bearing in mind only Euro games are counted, i don't think its too bad.

hmm, 4 PL teams in the top six...

I wonder what that means?

It depends how you look at things, doesn't it.

In terms of global interest, the EPL leaves the other leagues in the blocks.

In terms of European titles won, be they champions league, eufa ups or cup winners cups, over the years English clubs have won more titles than clubs from other nations.

In terms of excitement, the EPL is far more interesting to watch than any other league, and Sky viewing figures would bear out the point.

It doesn't necessarily prove the football is great of course, but it isn't bad, and apart from this year, when was the last time a Champions League final didn't feature an English team?

And let's not forget Fulham in a European final earlier this year.

I remember being excited by the prospect of watching Italian football on channel 4 years ago, and being mightily disappointed by the snoozefest on show. It was just so bloody boring. I agree that German football is interesting to watch, as it is played in a similar style to our own footy, and the fans are passionate, but I can't say Spanish football excites me one jot, either.

Like I said, it depends how you look at things, but for me the EPL wins hands down.

I like to be entertained, and I've seen enough of the foreign leagues to know that you get more excitement watching English teams than you will ever get watching other country's football.

Just my opinion, but I'm sticking with it.

It is your opinion and i am not asking you to change it.

One question though, what is it that you like? The excitement of the hurly burly end-to-end, minimal football as oppsed to the slow, technically superior foreign football.

Its not a loaded queation, just one of curiousity.
