We don't have to have, and won't have, a perfect squad come the start of next season. We just have to have a far more balanced one.
Currently we have very obvious issues, we don't have a first team quality pair of fullbacks, we haven't got good enough/fit enough CB's & we're struggling with our keeper.
With a bare minimum of 2 fullbacks, 1 CB, 1 keeper & 1 CM we could have a functioning squad in my eyes.
Keepers: (Ederson) Bravo
Fullbacks: (Anyone) (Anyone) Kolarov Maffeo (?)
CB's: Kompany Stones Otamendi (Van Dijk)
CM's: Dinho Fernando Delph (Isco) Gundogan Silva De Bruyne
Wingers: Nolito Sane Sterling Roberts
Strikers: Aguero Jesus Nacho
That would give us:
------------(Ederson)
(New)--Stones-(Van Dijk)--(New)
------------Gundogan
-----De Bruyne------Silva
Sterling-----Aguero---------Sane
Bench:
Bravo Kompany Kolarov (Isco) Dinho Jesus Nacho
With Roberts/Otamendi/Fernando/Delph/Maffeo still available for injuries.
Whilst ideally we would probably make more changes than that, I still believe that squad is balanced enough to compete with 5 incomings. The toughest part of course will be the outgoings - but I don't imagine it will really matter that much, we'll be having a huge wage bill reduction with simply offloading the guys out of contracts; if we can't offload the guys still in contract who need to go then they'll just go back out on loan which again will help reduce the wage bill anyway.
My guess: Navas, Yaya, Willy, Clichy, Sagna, Zabaleta for sure, with maybe Nolito/Nacho (hopefully the latter loaned).
