The big clearout!

Fernando has actually made 24 appearances this season out of a possible 46.

7 of those appearances were 10 minutes or fewer though, and he hasn't started a premier league game since the Arsenal home game in mid December (when Fernandinho was suspended).

Only 10 of the 24 appearances were starts, 2 in the EFL Cup when Pep played B teams and kids, 1 in the CL Qualifier when we were 5-0 up and Pep played the kids, and another in the 1-1 Celtic draw which was meaningless and Pep played the kids.

Of his 5 premier league starts...2 happened when Fernandinho was suspended and 1 came at right back.

I like him, wouldn't mind if he stayed, but he's not getting played.

He is another who just inst technically gifted enough passing for a Pep side.

We don't have to have, and won't have, a perfect squad come the start of next season. We just have to have a far more balanced one.

Currently we have very obvious issues, we don't have a first team quality pair of fullbacks, we haven't got good enough/fit enough CB's & we're struggling with our keeper.

With a bare minimum of 2 fullbacks, 1 CB, 1 keeper & 1 CM we could have a functioning squad in my eyes.

Keepers: (Ederson) Bravo
Fullbacks: (Anyone) (Anyone) Kolarov Maffeo (?)
CB's: Kompany Stones Otamendi (Van Dijk)
CM's: Dinho Fernando Delph (Isco) Gundogan Silva De Bruyne
Wingers: Nolito Sane Sterling Roberts
Strikers: Aguero Jesus Nacho

That would give us:

------------(Ederson)
(New)--Stones-(Van Dijk)--(New)
------------Gundogan
-----De Bruyne------Silva
Sterling-----Aguero---------Sane

Bench:
Bravo Kompany Kolarov (Isco) Dinho Jesus Nacho

With Roberts/Otamendi/Fernando/Delph/Maffeo still available for injuries.

Whilst ideally we would probably make more changes than that, I still believe that squad is balanced enough to compete with 5 incomings. The toughest part of course will be the outgoings - but I don't imagine it will really matter that much, we'll be having a huge wage bill reduction with simply offloading the guys out of contracts; if we can't offload the guys still in contract who need to go then they'll just go back out on loan which again will help reduce the wage bill anyway.

My guess: Navas, Yaya, Willy, Clichy, Sagna, Zabaleta for sure, with maybe Nolito/Nacho (hopefully the latter loaned).

Thinks it's curtains personally for Delph and Fernando , Garcia should be one who's drafted in for one of those two .

Gundogan is not a DM. He could play alongside a pacey DM (not William Carvalho) as a box-to-box midfielder but without one if not two quality DMs (the second one could be William Carvalho), two quality fullbacks, a left sided Centre half and a top-quality goalkeeper we won't improve much.

Wouldn't have any arguments against that - wasn't trying to predict the team/squad for next season per-say, was just trying to illustrate that we don't necessarily need to move 10 players out & bring 10 in to have a competitive squad next season. Bringing Garcia in is another good example of how that can be possible.

Agreed, wasn't trying to suggest or predict the team/line-up as it's next to impossible to suggest what next season will bring once all the changes have happened, was more just throwing names into our current formation to show who we could have available. You could replace Isco in my list of names with a DM & then you've got Fernando, Dinho & the new DM which is more than enough, with Silva/De Bruyne/Gundogan for the 2 positions ahead, with potentially Garcia/Zinchenko/Delph as back-ups to them three.

Ideally I think we'd bring in both a DM & a CM, but I believe we could still compete even with just one or the other coming in.

Talk of us being garbage is just that, garbage.

We are brilliant at times and i do mean brilliant but poor finishing, poor defensive lapses and some of the most biased and blatant cheating by officials have done for us.

The squad is at the end of its life and contractually, we are able this summer to really address our weakest spots.

We are not far off.
Totally, totally, TOTALLY agreed.

I'm with you mate I also think ten is far fetched , a specialist CB, Keeper, L & a RB , box to box DM and another AM , Maffeo back up RB , think Kolorov will survive to step in at LB or CB.

Ten in one window is far far too much , too much distruption, will take two windows to sort that squad out.
