The Bluemoon Song Cup 2023

Easy win for Love.

Although I've heard of Love, I'd never listened to their music until it was recommend on the playlist thread - I won't say who by because that might give away who picked it.

But Forever Changes is indeed a very good album.

There are 3 on the list I had genuinely never heard of.
3 out of 20 you have not heard before is hardly "obscure and quite frankly shit".

I think the 160 is likely to contain a lot of well known stuff, but it's good that people have nominated some songs that may be a surprise to others.

Nobody wants to see a list composed entirely of the same old acts.

The Smiths have had way too many already.

Interestingly, whilst cited as unfair opposition to The Smiths - Love never really made it big or charted well, 'Forever Changes' peaked at No.154 in the US and No.24 in the UK when it was released.
It seems with the likes of NME/Rolling Stone etc doing 'Top Albums of All Time' lists that it finally got the recognistion and legacy status it deserved.

This is shaping up fairly nicely so far.

After the first ten ties, there's only two Manc bands through and one other set of indie whingers who can't sing.

If it carries on like this, it could develop into a fairly even competition. Early days though.
