The Bluemoon Song Cup 2023

Looking ahead to the weekend, because I don't think there's much sport to look forward to.
(Well, apart from match of the year so far at the French Open later and then us finishing the season in a low-key match in Istanbul tomorrow).

Saturday's match features a surprise artist that already has one song through to round 2 versus a popular local act.

Then for Sunday, well, it's the match that everybody's been waiting for - a real tasty ding-dong between "Who the hell are they?" and "Did somebody really nominate that track?"

Yeah. Cuts like a knife, but I've never liked The Jam and there were no instructions from BH to be impartial, so what the hell!

Have The Jam ever written a song as catchy as "Rabbit"?
Would only be if they had lowered their standards - having you in charge of the competition is like having the gpc in charge of VAR.

Another tough choice this one, I’ve met Tim Booth and he’s a really nice guy whereas Bono who I haven’t met comes across as an insufferable twat.
’One‘ is the better song though.

I think its important to acknowledge that Bono is a bit of a nob. And U2 may have some good songs - but its all comes with a strong whiff of cheese.

James are a solid indie band, but putting predjudice aside, is this song better? Have to give this some thought.
Bongo, pantomime rock in leather trousers. A grown up who wears sunglasses indoors

gpc ?

But don't worry, I'm not in charge and despite my musical bias, I'm as honest as the day is long - otherwise The Jam wouldn't have won by a clear 17 points :)

Reckon I've got one in on Sunday. May be a low turnout vote wise
