The Boxing thread

Oh my god what am I watching. The golden contract on fight night live, some French lad called mimoune just battered mckenna but the judges didn't see it .

The French lad is absolutely livid.
Wasn't even close! Complete and utter farce. MTK never sell out tickets so that's why they gave it to McKenna. Ohara Davies v Tyrone McKenna will sell more tickets.

Corrupt cnuts.

I'm not sure I like Tyson's new game plan and I think there may be something to the rumours that training camp didn't go well(did he ever take he sunglasses off the other day?). However there could be a lot of mind games from Fury's side. So a lot of this depends on Fury for me.

I didn't give Wilder any rounds outside of the ones he scored knockdowns in. Technically you could argue with that too if you lose the whole of a round, you've lost a point(9-10), if you score a knockdown, that is only supposed to be worth 1 point but it seems it ends up 10-8 regardless with most judges.

Outside of his best weapon Wilder doesn't offer much else worth shouting about for me. He's got a decent jab but it's not an elite jab, both AJ and Fury have better jabs, many of the top 10 do infact. Wilder also doesn't get involved in dogfights as has been said by many in the build-up, he puts his guard up and it's a leaky guard at that, until he can put some space between his self and his opponent. The one thing Fury has to watch out for in close quarters is the illegal shots that Wilder always gets away with. They are not simple taps like typically seen in the clinch, they are full blown hooks winged in(Ortiz even talked about it as criminal), Ruiz Jr has a similar penchant towards that. They have been illegal in the rules of boxing and MMA for a long time for a reason but it's rarely enforced by US referees.

I don't see a clean KO coming from Fury, but this is a 6ft7-8 man weighing over 18 stone, he can definitely hurt Wilder and force a stoppage. The puzzle is getting past the danger zone, to put him on the back foot. Knowing when to hold your feet and when not to hold your feet. To be fair that is easier said than done and why many opponents(40 of which were nowhere near elite) have walked onto that shot, an elite fighter shouldn't though. Ortiz made basic mistakes that an elite fighter shouldn't in first fight and showed he didn't learn in the second fight. He didn't pace himself despite Wilder not being a pressure fighter, he stopped moving his head as the fight went on, he lost concentration as the fight went on and missed the telegraphed punch he was looking for all night.

Fury did tire in the last fight, there should be less of that this time around having factor late on. Still, if Tyson gets overconfident and sloppy again it could be over. It should be interesting, hope Fury smashes him all over.
Good post mate . Got a feeling all is not well in the fury camp and I think the Vegas feeling has got to fury . Wilder is a very crude fighter with hardly any skill but he has sledgehammer and all it takes is one hit . If Tyson engages I think this fight is over very quickly

I'd say they are just as bad going by tonight's viewing! They were handing out tickets at the Michael Conlon fight in Belfast for free just to gets bums on seats.

You staying up for the fight tomorrow night?
Oh aye, I stayed up for the last one, that was the best fight I've seen for a long while, hope it's a repeat of that.
You staying up for it?

Yeah definitely! Buzzing for this one...I'll probably have to set my alarm and get up and watch it. Gone are the days were a group of us would be on the beer all day Saturday for the footy...Go to a nightclub that night and come home and watch the boxing :)

Tyson is the master of mind games. Yeah he’s put weight on and moved to a more aggressive trainer but he’ll still predominantly box on the counter. If he goes in with the mindset of knocking out Wilder in 2 rounds he’ll be in big trouble.

Edit: the other interesting part of this fight is the cut Tyson suffered in his last fight and maybe that will make him more aggressive. Also rumors, as always, he was knocked out whilst sparring in camp.

I have no idea. Complete coin toss on who wins I just don’t think it’s going 12 and I think Tyson hits way harder than most give him credit for.

You could be right but I hope he can get it done though even if there are problems with the cut or whatever happened in camp. Otherwise PBC will do what they always do these days with their belt holders.
