The Boxing thread

Can’t see anyway that Tyson knocks out Wilder in two rounds. I think it’ll be more of a chip away kind of ko if that’s how he does it with more time on the front foot than last time and punishing Wilder when he misses. He stunned Wilder 3/4 times with quick 1-2 combinations that hurt Wilder. If he’s a stone heavier and he throws more shots he’ll be in with a shout for a late stoppage I reckon.

Also it was the last fight where he had 2/3 years out of boxing and had a lot of weight to lose. They reckon he’ll be heavier this time and he’s been much more focused on boxing and hitting harder hence the change of trainers.

Not sure being heavier helps Tyson. Heavier usually means slower and more likely to tire as the fight goes on. I think Wilder wins this comfortably.

last time tyson was never in any sort of shape to fight wilder ? no ring time or any proper fights in his come back, and most of his training camp was based on losing some of weight fast and fitness, not much boxing training like long road work with running and stamina, yes sparring and gym work on speed and movement can not worked on but the legs need rounds and stamina

from what i have heard and stuff coming out of the tyson camp ? he is working on getting wilder out early and looking to knock him out ? that's sounds like he's been working on the weights and power, and if that is the case he will defo need to take wilder out early ? its simple tyson just not nothing in ring time over the last 3 years and i thinks its one proper fight of sorts before his wilder fight

since then he boxed to order for the EPSN/top rank and a WWE rumble and change trainers so its get him out early or you lose

Tyson is the master of mind games. Yeah he’s put weight on and moved to a more aggressive trainer but he’ll still predominantly box on the counter. If he goes in with the mindset of knocking out Wilder in 2 rounds he’ll be in big trouble.

Edit: the other interesting part of this fight is the cut Tyson suffered in his last fight and maybe that will make him more aggressive. Also rumors, as always, he was knocked out whilst sparring in camp.

I have no idea. Complete coin toss on who wins I just don’t think it’s going 12 and I think Tyson hits way harder than most give him credit for.

I can’t remember the exact number he fought at in the first fight but he will be a stone heavier than his last fight in the summer. Word from his last camp was that he felt drained from constant dieting and had no energy in the fight. Could be one of the reasons he left Ben along with the negative style.

I'm not sure I like Tyson's new game plan and I think there may be something to the rumours that training camp didn't go well(did he ever take he sunglasses off the other day?). However there could be a lot of mind games from Fury's side. So a lot of this depends on Fury for me.

I didn't give Wilder any rounds outside of the ones he scored knockdowns in. Technically you could argue with that too if you lose the whole of a round, you've lost a point(9-10), if you score a knockdown, that is only supposed to be worth 1 point but it seems it ends up 10-8 regardless with most judges.

Outside of his best weapon Wilder doesn't offer much else worth shouting about for me. He's got a decent jab but it's not an elite jab, both AJ and Fury have better jabs, many of the top 10 do infact. Wilder also doesn't get involved in dogfights as has been said by many in the build-up, he puts his guard up and it's a leaky guard at that, until he can put some space between his self and his opponent. The one thing Fury has to watch out for in close quarters is the illegal shots that Wilder always gets away with. They are not simple taps like typically seen in the clinch, they are full blown hooks winged in(Ortiz even talked about it as criminal), Ruiz Jr has a similar penchant towards that. They have been illegal in the rules of boxing and MMA for a long time for a reason but it's rarely enforced by US referees.

I don't see a clean KO coming from Fury, but this is a 6ft7-8 man weighing over 18 stone, he can definitely hurt Wilder and force a stoppage. The puzzle is getting past the danger zone, to put him on the back foot. Knowing when to hold your feet and when not to hold your feet. To be fair that is easier said than done and why many opponents(40 of which were nowhere near elite) have walked onto that shot, an elite fighter shouldn't though. Ortiz made basic mistakes that an elite fighter shouldn't in first fight and showed he didn't learn in the second fight. He didn't pace himself despite Wilder not being a pressure fighter, he stopped moving his head as the fight went on, he lost concentration as the fight went on and missed the telegraphed punch he was looking for all night.

Fury did tire in the last fight, there should be less of that this time around having factor late on. Still, if Tyson gets overconfident and sloppy again it could be over. It should be interesting, hope Fury smashes him all over.

Tyson family must be coming over well on the ITV program, missus asking what time fight on Saturday, said half four and she said give me a call.
Few of the lads said similar about their other halves.
He's a showman alright and good luck to him

I do wonder how much as been spent in promoting this fight, it's been everywhere for a good few weeks now. They are going to have to do some good numbers, after all that.

I rewatched the first fight this afternoon and it’s a lot closer than most said. I watched it with the commentary off and could easily see why 1,3 & 4 could have been given to Wilder.
When you think about it you have 12 rounds which go 10-9 or 10-8 with a knockdown . Wilder knocked fury down twice so that’s 2 10-8 rounds which is in theory 4 rounds to wilder so all he has to do is get 2 rounds which are very very close and they go to wilder and that’s 6 rounds and the draw . So I can see why It could be given as a draw . As for the fight I think if Tyson fury does what he says he is going to do then it won’t last 5 rounds but if he does his usual then he has a chance . I do think wilder has more hunger for this fight than fury though .
