By "the weakest champion possible", I take it you mean Kostya Tszyu? The pound for pound number 2 in the sport when Hatton fought him for the tile? Ok, if you say so.....Damocles said:conormcfc said:Last few Hatton fights? What, you mean Pacquiao and Mayweather, the 2 greatest boxers of this generation?
I'm sorry but you don't have a clue mate.
Ok, I'll rephrase.
Boxing means that you face a bunch f guys who you feel that you can beat, until you pick the weakest champion possible, beat them, then continue to fight weak guys for PPV money.
Eventually, you buck up, fight a good fighter and get knocked clean out, then retire. Or at least try to fight a far superior fighter, and get knocked out by him.
Haven't had the opposition? LOL.hilts said:conormcfc said:Last few Hatton fights? What, you mean Pacquiao and Mayweather, the 2 greatest boxers of this generation?

i dont think you can question hattons heart or desire but those fights showed that he was a very average fighter, pacquiao and mayweather are very good but they havent had the opposition to test how great they are, boxing has lost its way which is a shame

And how disgraceful of Ricky to attempt to take on the 2 greatest in the sport. Embarrasing stuff from the hitman.

Pacquiao has fought Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Hatton, De La Hoya, Cotto and he's figting Margarito tonight.
Although I have come down on Mayweather for his choice of opponent in the past, to say he's not been tested is a joke. Corrales, Castillo, Gatti, De La Hoya, Hatton and Mosley.
Shit comment
Just because people haven't heard of them doesn't mean they aren't great. You've never heard of Barrera, Morales, Marquez, De La Hoya, Cotto, Margarito, Mosley?hilts said:the fact that most people havent heard of most these guys means either they aint great or no one cares
how many good fighters in their prime did hatton fight and how many did he win?

Name 1 guy Pacquiao could've fought that he hasn't...
Absolute laughable post.Damocles said:Boxing is a sport of conmen and shysters.
The last few fights of Haye and Hatton were a fucking disgrace.
Boxing is dead; it has as much similarity as fucking WWE
Bullshit. He took a dive for a million quid
I never even said Hatton was good, my point was that his fights against Mayweather and Pacquiao shouldn't be labelled a disgrace just because he lost.hilts said:conormcfc said:Just because people haven't heard of them doesn't mean they aren't great. how many great fighters did hatton fight in their prime and win was the question
if i fought tyson who no doubt would knock me out with a jab would that make me good just because i fought him? i watched most of hattons fights i dont remember him beating anyone great in their prime, i could be wrong though
He beat Collazo in his first fight at Welterweight, which actually strengthens your argument because Collazo is a much better fighter than Urango.conormcfc said:I never even said Hatton was good, my point was that his fights against Mayweather and Pacquiao shouldn't be labelled a disgrace just because he lost.hilts said:how many great fighters did hatton fight in their prime and win was the question

For the record, he beat the pound for pound number 2 in Tszyu, an undefeated Urango in his first fight at welterweight and Jose Luis Castillo, a guy who a lot of people believe beat Mayweather.
You originally said Pacquiao had never been really tested, so I ask you again, who else could he have possibly fought to have tested himself?
I always get Collazo and Urango mixed up, he fought them back to back but I always get the order mixed up.ono said:He beat Collazo in his first fight at Welterweight, which actually strengthens your argument because Collazo is a much better fighter than Urango.conormcfc said:I never even said Hatton was good, my point was that his fights against Mayweather and Pacquiao shouldn't be labelled a disgrace just because he lost.

Castillo definitely beat Mayweather in their first fight. Hatton was also the first to floor Castillo which is a big achievement considering Castillo's opposition.
He's got some good names on his record as Hatton. If anything, he became a much better fighter than his talent should have allowed him.
I don't think he disgraced himself against Mayweather, and i think he just had a horrible gameplan against Pacquiao. I don't think he could have beaten him, but performed quite stupidly.
Excited for later on mate?
