Not true. The ref deemed the ropes kept him upright (which they did) so he administered a count.

I personal think he should of waved it off but he applied his discretion and the rules of Queensbury boxing

Whilst I agree about being in decline generally.

He’s a game raiser. Fights to the level of his opponent.


That was the best fury we’ve seen since wilder 2, or maybe even Klitschko in my opinion

That’s how good Usyk is.

At the time I thought he should have stopped it or let usyk finish him, but you're correct. If a referee deems only the ropes prevented the kd he can give an 8 count. It could be argued the ref could have done that earlier in the barrage, usyk landed 6 or 7 good shots after the 1st time the ropes kept him upright.

Doesn't happen in pro fights. Please tell me the last time you saw a standing eight count occur in a championship bout?

It’s not the same thing. I’m not saying the standing 8 is still a thing.

But the laws of Queensbury rules state if the ropes are the only thing keeping a boxer standing then the ref can administer a count.

It’s different to a standing 8 where a big shot backs a fighter up and the ref counts (like in amateurs)
