The Boxing thread

Good points Leighton about Scott Quigg.

I see Scott most days as he lives around here where I live.
Yet I've never seen any PR for any of his fights, even though his main fanbase is in Bury.

Never been to any of his boxing fights, even though I've been to some of his Muay Thai fights when he was a kid.

The arena was sadly more empty for the Quigg fight than the heavyweight fight for Anthony Joshua which was on before.

Thats the thing about Scott that I look at hes seems to be a lovely guy. But he is lacking something were they just cant get a following to his fights. He has been on some big cards in Manchester supporting Hatton and also on the Froch v Groves 1 card he just doesnt have a following sadly. I think if Carl was promoted by Hearn they wouldnt be talking about a fight with Quigg as he doesnt sell the tickects. So thats the reason why Quigg hasnt seen the big hitters yet as they dont know much about him to fight him yet. I look at Quigg and I hope he gets a fight with a top 10 fighter before he goes in with 1 of the big title holders. He shouldnt even have a belt as Rigondeaux is the man in that governing body. I cant stand them having 2 World titles for 1 organisation its a joke.

Not sure who wins in Quigg v Frampton but hope its Quigg, i think both will fall short at top level though

What's top level???
Frampton is a World Champion who is holding a real world title. He is a elite fighter. Quigg is holding a paper World championship as there main guy is Rigondeaux who is the top of the division. There are some good fighters in this division. Leo Santa Cruz is a big fighter fighting in the US Frampton has been his number 1 contender for his title so that fight could be made. I think if Hearn doesn't do a good deal team Frampton could go to the US and fight there he has a good solid style and power and could do well there. See what happens when talks open. In the papers Hearn is talking about 2 fights between Quigg and Frampton so that's basically a year with them tied up fighting each other and something I cant see both fighters agree to.

top level was the wrong words to be fair as they are both already top level, what i mean is i don't think any of them are future superstars and won't ever be regarded as THE best in the division.
I'm just not as sold on Frampton as everyone else seems to be, though admit i know I'm in the minority so may well be wrong, i know you can only beat whats in front of you but i don't think he has yet beaten anyone at the top of their game. i also think his power is overrated and although 13 kos from 19 looks good like i say idont think he's fought much yet, take Hatton he stopped most on his way up but no one would now call Hatton a 1 punch KO artist.
you are obviously a huge Frampton fan and i think that is making you very harsh on Quigg, they are both young undefeated fighters in the same weight class and rivalry is going to be their, but none of them have done anything wrong they both just say they will win the fight, for me Quigg is a great guy and someone who is a wonderful professional and great role model for any fighters coming up.
I don't think we can say Quigg needs to earn a fight with Frampton as i don't think Frampton has done that much more so the fight should be made ASAP, like i say i don't know who wins but am pretty sure the bookies will have Frampton favourite when the time comes

Groves vs Rebrasse
&
Kid Galahad vs Dos Santos

<a class="postlink" href="http://shadygiz.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/free-live-streams-groves-vs-rebrasse.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://shadygiz.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/ ... rasse.html</a>

Kid Galahad fight looks like a really good 50-50 fight. Both unbeaten. Dos Santos 14 wins out of 14 with 10 KOs is some going no major names but he seems to have some power now this is his big chance to get bigger fights if he beats Kid. Kid has looked good in his fights but I get the feeling he lacks the power to be a World Champion still only young but in this division you need to have good power if your not a top class boxer. Rigondeaux wouldnt be the biggest puncher but he is the best boxer argueable fighting at the moment he is just too good technically for most.

George Groves fight Groves should win the fight Rebrasse hasnt been stopped and is a durable fighter so I wouldnt be shocked if it goes to the cards. Saying that Groves has the power to KO anyone and I wouldnt be shocked if Groves does end up winning by KO he is in last chance saloon situation if he loses tonight he might end up retiring. Not a great undercard but I expect all of the home based fighters to win easy.
