Debating whether or not to try and stay awake to watch BHop turn back the clocks once again...

Sky have it on at 11 am on replay. BHop is a nightmare to watch at times. Was going to stay up for it myself but I think I will catch the replay tomorrow morning instead.

Done Jean Pascal to win by KO in rounds 10-12 got 12/1 on it and my Groves bet covers my lost. I hope this is the last of BHop I see in a ring. Really think IF Pascal goes for a KO he will get it tonight.

There's still the question marks over Pascal's stamina though. The only way he'll knock Hopkins out is if he does it in the first 6 rounds imo. In the first fight it was all BHop from round 5 onwards.

HOPKINS BEATS FOREMAN'S RECORD

Bernard Hopkins became the oldest fighter to win a major world championship as he claimed the WBC light-heavyweight title after defeating Jean Pascal at the age of 46.

Hopkins wrested the WBC, IBO and The Ring magazine titles from his 28-year-old opponent, who was making his fifth defence at the Bell Centre.

Hopkins (52-5-2) is the oldest fighter to take a major world belt, six months older than George Foreman when he took the heavyweight title with a victory over Michael Moorer in 1994.

The Philadelphia boxer weathered an early attack from his Montreal opponent before landing more punches and avoiding many of Pascal's power shots, jabbing intelligently and landing a number of right-handers.

Hopkins also taunted his younger foe, dropping to do press-ups before the seventh round.

Despite a late charge from Pascal, Hopkins did enough to win with the judges each having him ahead on points after the 12th round, the cards reading 115-113, 116-112, 115-114.

Hopkins was quoted in The Globe and Mail, saying: "I didn't feel like I was 46 tonight, I felt more like 36.

"I can say I'm a great fighter, it was exciting, I think everybody enjoyed themselves."

Pascal admitted his two bouts, the first of which was a draw, against Hopkins had taught him lessons.

He said: "Bernard fought a great fight, he's a great champion, he has a great defence and knows a lot of tricks.

"These two fights will lead me to the next level, I learned a lot from Bernard and his style."

Hopkins will next fight Chad Dawson, who had a unanimous decision win over Adrian Diaconu in an elimination bout

-- 22 May 2011 07:21 --

Just to add,i thought Hopkins looked in amazing condition, fair play to him.

Ding dang do that will do me. Took Groves to win the fight 11/4 so I was well happy. Degale was missing with a lot. Groves boxed a different fight than normal and I had Groves by 1 round at the least. Degale was a lucky boy not to get a point docked in there in the early rounds. I am happy camper delighted for Groves and Booth who is in my opinion a top class trainer. The fighters he trains have total faith in him and if Haye beats Klitschko he could well be trainer of the year.

Frankie Gavin a total shut out was a great preformance his shot selections at times is brilliant. Drop him back down to Light Welterweight more dangerous down there in my view.

Clev in with a bum and done the business. A easy title defence coming up and see who is champion after that and aim him at a weak champion next year.

Billy Joe a good KO win he needs more fights the injury he got last year has held him up big time. Like what I see but he needs to be tested.
I thought the bookies were going to large on groves i didnt think there was much between them as in the likely winner, just before the fight he was just over 7/2 on the exchanges so i went in only small but its enough.

Degale has all the boxing skills in the world but if ur lacking in the heart department then theres a problem & thats my opinion after watching the fight i thought groves was willing to go in the trenches & degale didnt fancy that .

I thought Pascal was going to KO him in that last round. He hurt Hopkins in that round. Its a shame as I had him to win by a late KO and it just didnt happen. As for BHop I hope he retires. There is no one out there that he could now fight thats worth fighting for him maybe at a push Tavoris Cloud but how long is he willing to fight for.

agree with you to a point here about no one left to fight but he still looks in great shape and it doesnt show that he is 46 in his legs or his stamina, no doubt some of his power has left him. I reckon he could probably go for a couple more years without embarrasing himself ala Holyfield

Well I hope he calls it a day the longer he fights on the more chance of major damage can be done. Most fighters know when to get out. Others fight on way too long and it ruins there legacy fighting late 40s in my view is too much for anyone to take. I just hope if is to have a farewell fight in the US its his last fight and concentrate on working with Golden Boy Promotions.

Forget about Hopkins getting hurt, anyone seen the state of Roy lately?

After the fight he said something like "I don't give up that easily". :s

Punch drunk will be an understatement in 10 years.

This man is showing exactly how you destroy your legacy as one of the best P4P's ever

Roy Jones Jnr what a talent he was. Back in around 96 or 97 I think or it could of been a year earlier Steve Collins called him out and Roy was having none of it. It was the only fight left for Collins after beating Eubank and Benn. It got to the stage were Collins was coming to a point were Jones was avoiding him. It was a shame that Collins retire so young at 33 or 34 but it seemed that he fell out of love with boxing after not getting the Roy Jones fight. I think they were going to have Collins v Calzaghe but Collins decided to call it a day. A bit like Froch with Calzaghe when he was coming to the end the fight just never happend and if it would of it would of been 2 cracking fights to have seen when you see what both fighters went on to do.

Collins v Jones Jnr , Collins v Clazaghe and Clazaghe v Froch 3 fights that should of happend but never happend. Its always the same in boxing and still to this day the fights that should be made still dont get made this is the thing that pisses me off about boxing. Promotors just happy to avoid the big fights until the last moment if at all it will kill boxing off if it continues.
